Full time Vice President Executive

Job Description

The Ontario Medical Association (OMA) represents approximately 50,000 physicians, medical students and retired physicians across the province. Founded in 1880, the OMA advocates for the medical profession, negotiates physician compensation and agreements with the Ontario government, and provides services that support physicians in their practices and careers. The OMA also plays a central role in shaping health care in Ontario and is one of Canada’s most influential provincial medical associations.

The opportunity

We’re looking for an accomplished physician leader to help shape how the OMA supports, serves and engages Ontario’s physicians. This newly created role brings together key areas of the OMA’s work to deliver a more connected experience for members. As Executive Vice-President, Member Experience and Physician Services (EVP), you will lead a cross-functional team of experts responsible for improving the member experience, delivering services that support physicians in their careers and practices, creating meaningful ways for physicians to participate in the OMA and helping physicians navigate changes arising from new health system policies, programs and models of care. Reporting to the CEO, you will develop an integrated member experience strategy that strengthens physicians’ trust in the OMA, demonstrates the value of membership at every career stage and creates meaningful opportunities for physicians to connect, collaborate and lead.

 What you bring

You will be an accomplished physician leader who can build trusted relationships and lead effectively in a highly complex and evolving environment. A clear communicator and experienced people leader, you will bring strong political and governance acumen and work effectively with physicians, system partners and other diverse stakeholders. Drawing on your experience leading significant transformation, member engagement or service delivery initiatives, you will turn insights into effective strategies and services and bring cross-functional teams together around shared goals. You are motivated by the opportunity to strengthen Ontario’s physician community and lead through influence as the health care system continues to evolve.

 Experience and qualifications

An MD or equivalent medical degree is strongly preferred, given the importance of credibility with physicians and a deep understanding of the medical profession. The OMA will also consider candidates with a university degree in health administration, business, public policy, communications or a related field, combined with significant senior leadership experience. An MBA, MHA or comparable graduate degree is an asset. Candidates must have substantial executive experience leading a complex portfolio focused on services, membership, health care or stakeholder engagement. They must also understand Ontario’s health care system, governance and the issues affecting physicians, patients and the broader healthcare system.

To apply, please contact Boyden partners Pamela Colquhoun and Jim Stonehouse through Kathy Luu, senior associate, at kluu@boyden.com.

The successful candidate is expected to begin in January 2027.

The Ontario Medical Association is strongly committed to diversity within its community and welcomes applications from racialized persons/persons of colour, women, Indigenous People of North America, persons with disabilities, LGBTQ2S+ persons, and others who may contribute to the further diversification of ideas. In accordance with the AODA Act, accommodation will be provided throughout the recruitment process to applicants with disabilities.
