Job Description

Chief Executive Officer

“the trusted voice of a caring and compassionate long-term care sector”

The Ontario Long Term Care Association (OLTCA) is the largest association of long-term care providers in Canada and the only association that represents the full mix of long-term care operators – private, not-for-profit, charitable, and municipal.  The Association represents nearly 70% of Ontario’s long-term care homes, located in communities across the province.  Our members provide care and accommodation services to more than 70,000 residents annually.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is a compelling and effective thought-leading ambassador for this growing and dynamic sector of the health care system.  The CEO will lead in the development and implementation of OLTCA’s strategy and operational plans, advance OLTCA’s advocacy initiatives on behalf of the members, and enhance the value derived by members associated with OLTCA.  Serving as the official spokesperson for the Association, the CEO works with a talented staff group (the OLTCA office is located in downtown Toronto) to represent OLTCA and its policy recommendations to government, advisory bodies, regulatory authorities, industry-related organizations and related advocacy groups.

The CEO sought will be passionate about the importance and potential of the long-term care sector.  Attuned to the nuances of a diversified member organization, whose members operate in a highly regulated environment, the new CEO will be fully conversant with the broader health care sector and will have the experience and relationships by and through which policy, funding and service delivery improvements can be realized.  In the ideal, the desired CEO will have first-hand experience working with a member-driven organization, coupled with health care systems and operational leadership germane to the long-term care sector.  Collaborative, a consummate communicator, and inspiring, the preferred candidate will raise the profile of Ontario’s critically important long-term care sector and the residents it serves.   This is a pivotal time for the sector and a most exciting time to lead this prominent and well-respected organization.
