Situated in Richmond Hill, Ontario, the Schroeder Ambulatory Centre is an Integrated Community Health Services Centre (ICHSC) and registered charity licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Health to provide publicly insured outpatient healthcare services in community. This means that patients don’t stay at the Centre overnight, and have less complex cases than those handled in hospitals. The result of a generous philanthropic gift from Walter and Maria Schroeder (via the Schroeder Foundation), the Centre is purpose-built from the ground up to reduce surgical and diagnostic backlogs, strengthen public health and empower Ontarians to enjoy a better quality of life.
With 200,000 square feet of space, the Centre adds significant capacity to our public health system, enabling better and more convenient access to both specialized and primary care physicians, as well as diagnostic imaging and ambulatory surgeries and procedures.
Reporting directly to the Chair and Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and provide the strategic, clinical-operational, and administrative leadership required to advance Schroeder Ambulatory Centre's mission and growth ambitions. Entrusted with building and leading the organization's operational engine, the COO will oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of systems, processes, and structures that support exceptional performance across both publicly funded (OHIP) and private-pay services. The COO will drive alignment across board priorities, executive strategy, and frontline service delivery while advancing the Centre's commitment to excellence, accountability, and innovation. At a pivotal stage of growth and evolution, the Centre offers a unique opportunity to shape a high-performing organization and advance its commitment to service excellence.
Working in close partnership with the CEO and executive leadership team, the COO will champion organizational performance, scalability, and cross-functional alignment. Key priorities include establishing standardized operational frameworks, advancing performance measurement and quality indicators, and strengthening the infrastructure required to support future growth. Oversight extends across complex operational workflows, regulatory and accreditation readiness, workforce effectiveness, and cross-functional collaboration with Medical Affairs, Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources, and Communications & Marketing. Equally important will be the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments, lead strategic negotiations, cultivate high-value partnerships, and champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance organizational capacity, efficiency, and service delivery excellence.
Bringing over a decade of senior leadership experience in complex, service-oriented environments, the successful candidate will possess a demonstrated ability to build, optimize, and scale operational systems while leading high-performing, cross-functional teams through growth and change. A track record of navigating startup, scale-up, or rapidly growing organizations and building scalable operational infrastructure in the absence of established frameworks will be particularly valuable. Exceptional people leadership capabilities, strong commercial acumen, and outstanding communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills are essential to succeeding in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. A bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Business Administration, Operations Management, Commerce, Engineering, or a related field is required, while a graduate degree is considered an asset. The successful candidate will bring the vision, discipline, and executive presence required to drive operational excellence and support Schroeder Ambulatory Centre's ambitious trajectory.
For more information or to pursue this opportunity, please contact Jim Stonehouse, Partner via Kathy Luu, kluu@boyden.com .
This is a new position. At Schroeder Ambulatory Centre, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible recruitment experience for all candidates.
