Chief Executive Officer

The Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) is a pioneering, forward-thinking, independent non-profit organization, and a global leader in the prevention of problem gambling. Since its inception in 1983, RGC has been at the forefront of reducing gambling-related harm through the development and delivery of innovative prevention education programs across Ontario. Globally, RGC promotes the adoption of enhanced play safeguards through rigorous research, standards development, policy guidance, and the highly respected RG Check accreditation program. As the gambling industry continues to evolve globally, so does the reach and impact of RGC’s work. We unite people and organizations including operators, regulators, government, academics, community and prevention agencies, treatment professionals and those with first-hand experience to minimize gambling-related harms.

The Position

The CEO is accountable to the Board of Directors and, in collaboration with the RGC team, will spearhead leadership and innovation in prevention education programs and services on provincial, national, and international stages. The CEO will drive the implementation of RGC’s strategic goals and objectives, ensuring alignment with the organization’s vision, mission, values, and strategic directions. This role requires a creative leader capable of navigating a rapidly evolving industry, strategically advancing partnerships, collaborations, commercialization, and innovation to keep pace with the changing gambling landscape.

Key Opportunities and Priority Areas of Focus for the new CEO will be to:

  • Strategic Vision and Execution: Continue to implement the Strategic Plan 2024 - 2029, steering RGC towards its strategic goals.
  • Government Relations: Continue to cultivate and enhance relationships across all levels of government to ensure sustained support and collaboration.
  • Community Partnerships: Continue to cultivate and strengthen relationships/partnerships with community agencies, mental health and addiction partners, and treatment providers.
  • Industry Partnerships: Continue to forge and strengthen relationships/partnerships within the industry including operators, regulators, gaming manufacturers, and sports leagues.
  • Revenue Generation: Continue to seek out diverse revenue streams to expand available funding sources.
  • Brand and Business Development: Elevate RGC’s brand and business presence both nationally and globally.
  • Research and Advisory Growth: Expand RGC’s research capabilities to produce and utilize evidence-based information that informs industry standards.
  • Organizational Culture: Continue to foster RGC’s highly supportive, collaborative, inclusive, diverse, and productive work environment.

Experience

The CEO will be a passionate, visionary, and courageous business leader with a highly successful leadership track record in a diverse, multi-stakeholder environment with proven experience in strategic planning, public policy, government relations/advocacy, change management, business development, education & research, and partnership development.
