Georgian Bay General Hospital is a 116-bed hospital with two sites located in the municipalities of Midland and Penetanguishene. GBGH serves a catchment area that includes the communities of Midland, Penetanguishene, Township of Tiny, Township of Tay, Christian Island, Georgian Bay Township and Springwater Township.
Georgian Bay General Hospital serves a population base of 55,000, swelling to more than 150,000 for six months of the year when seasonal residents return.
Located in historic Huronia on the shores of beautiful Georgian Bay, just 90 minutes north of Toronto, Georgian Bay General Hospital offers services comparable to other community hospitals in the province supporting the general health care needs of our patients. As well, Telehealth video conferencing services are available for consultation and education.
At our Midland site, services include 24-hour emergency department, inpatient medicine, obstetrics, general surgery, outpatient day surgery, diagnostic imaging (radiology, ultrasound, and CT scan), pharmacy, respiratory therapy, in-patient physiotherapy, and ambulatory care. The Midland site is also home to a 36-bed interim long-term care unit.
Our Penetanguishene site is where our 32-bed regional complex continuing care unit serving patients from Simcoe and Muskoka, palliative care is housed along with a 15-bed regional rehabilitation program and an 8-station dialysis unit.
