To deliver excellent support services to people with disabilities so they can live their lives
PACE Independent Living is recruiting for a Full-time
DIRECTOR, PEOPLE AND CULTURE

This is an exceptional opportunity for an innovative human resources professional to make significant contributions to the successful achievement of the core values and strategic plan goals of PACE Independent Living.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, and as the senior leader of the Human Resources and Scheduling team, you will provide innovative, strategic and day-to-day leadership to support PACE’s management and staff in achieving both strategic and operational goals in the corporate areas of human resources and centralized scheduling. As Director of People and Culture, you will initiate and implement HR programs to foster an environment of continuous improvement, learning, and employee engagement, as well as support an organizational culture that values diversity and inclusion, upholds respect and dignity, and inspires professional excellence. Another important aspect of your role will be to provide organizational oversight of centralized scheduling for the Operations Team to ensure appropriate staffing on a 24/7 basis, and acting as the primary liaison and relationship manager with third-party scheduling services.
Major Responsibilities:
Both strategically minded and results-oriented, you will ensure that strategies are in place to attract, motivate, develop and retain top talent, by serving as the influential voice within the organization for HR strategies, philosophies and initiatives, developing long- and short-term goals and objectives, and aligning HR practices and programs with PACE’s strategic goals. As a subject matter expert on all things HR, you will provide advice and interpretation to leadership and the HR team on statutory obligations, HR policies, and collective agreement, as well as employment and labour relations developments and jurisprudence.
On an operational level, you will provide team leadership in the delivery of HR services, including employee/labour relations, compensation, job evaluation, benefits, recognition, recruitment, and occupational health and safety, develop the necessary monitoring mechanisms and develop, recommend, implement and evaluate HR and labour relations policies, systems, practices and procedures. A champion of best practices, you will ensure that they are embedded in all human resources programs, while building individual and collective capacity through an overarching learning strategy.
Key Qualifications:
With a post-secondary/master’s degree in human resources or another relevant field, including appropriate accreditation as a Certified Human Resources Professional, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, you have a solid foundation for success in this mission-critical role. Your expertise is also underpinned by at least 10 years of professional experience (or equivalent), with a significant senior-level management component, and including program leadership relating to people, strategy, financial and resource utilization, and providing advice and support to senior leadership in an organization. These business credentials are complemented by knowledge of the Ontario health sector and workforce trends within this sector.
As Director, you will also bring in-depth development knowledge of leading practices in human resources, compensation, recruitment and employee relations policies, processes and evaluation tools, an expert understanding of technical and legislative issues related to Human Resources and Employee/Labour Relations, and well-developed knowledge of benchmarking tools to evaluate HR programs and services. Your strong knowledge of business cycles, budget planning, resource allocation, financial monitoring and organizing skills to direct staff will prove invaluable in this high-impact position.
