The Position Unity Health Toronto is seeking an exceptional leader for the role of Vice President, Medical Affairs, St. Joseph’s Health Centre. In this role, you will have the mandate to lead exciting patient care initiatives that support and inspire the Professional staff, while contributing to the evolution of a new health network, ensuring the future is driven by the priorities of quality and patient-centred care. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will work collaboratively with senior leaders and staff on multiple network priorities, supporting strategy, clinical service planning and continued improvements in program outcomes and quality. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Medical Affairs and Clinical Programs, your medical leadership will be key to shaping and guiding the evolving culture at St. Joseph’s Health Centre and across Unity Health. As a passionate advocate for clinical excellence, you will lead and support a highly dedicated team of physicians inspired to advance care and clinical practice. This role requires a high degree of visibility and presence across the organization, with demonstrated skills in clinical leadership and physician engagement. The ability to build effective relationships with physicians and other stakeholders as well as the ability to influence will be important to the success of the role and the organization. Key leadership priorities for the Vice President, Medical Affairs, St. Joseph’s Health Centre will be to: Provide inspiration, direction and support for professional staff in a range of activities related to quality reporting, clinical service planning, academic endeavors, credentialing, physician recruitment and retention. Continue to advance a physician engagement and participation strategy that reinforces accountability and patient-centeredness. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, co-lead transformative initiatives including harmonization across the network, strategic planning, partnerships/integration opportunities, academic activities and continuous quality improvement across the continuum of the patient journey. Collaborate with the Vice President, Clinical Programs on program/clinical service planning strategies designed to optimize the patient experience. Partner and build relationships with internal and external providers, clinicians, teams, stakeholders and leaders to ensure optimal team performance and the provision of the highest quality and safest care to patients and families. Experience You are a physician licensed by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario or eligible for licensure. You are an experienced, inclusive and visionary leader with credentials in both medical leadership and clinical practice. You are assertive, fair, and highly regarded in your field of medical practice and have a breadth of medical leadership experience in either formal or informal leadership roles. Equally comfortable in the clinical and administrative environments, you understand the needs of physicians in hospitals, and can support them in undertaking practice changes. You possess superb interpersonal, communication (oral and written), negotiation and change management skills and have a history of providing leadership to and team building with clinical staff. Recognized as an effective change leader and successful in building relationships, you have demonstrated your commitment to quality improvement, broader systems-level change, and an academic mandate.
