Position Summary The Vice President, Corporate Redevelopment and Capital Projects will report to the President & Chief Executive Officer, overseeing infrastructure planning and large capital projects across the two sites including the hospital redevelopment project. Established in 1885, Brantford General Hospital (BGH) was established by a group of local physicians and citizens to serve the hospital needs of the local population. In 1999, The Willett Hospital in Paris and the Brantford General Hospital became partners in The Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS). BCHS operates 330 beds and serves a growing population of 160,000+ people across Brantford, County of Brant, Mississauga’s of the Credit First Nations, Six Nations of the Grand River, and surrounding communities. Over 2,700 staff, physicians, and volunteers work at BCHS supporting the long history of quality healthcare across the region. BCHS is an affiliated teaching site of McMaster University Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine.
The Hospital embarked on a planning effort and on March 9th, 2022, the Ministry of Health announced that BCHS has been granted permission to move to Stage 1 for the planning of a new Hospital in Brantford. Since that time, BCHS has made continued progress with the submission of the Stage 1.2 Part A: Program and Services and Part B: Facility Development Plan. BCHS is now poised to initiate Stage 1.3 Functional Planning and progress towards eventual project approval.

Primary Responsibilities

Develop and foster system relationships with community members, government and industry representatives, industry counterparts, vendors, and financial institutions.

The Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) is seeking an experienced leader to fill the key role of Manager of Community Engagement and Communications, Queens-WAHA Partnership. Working in collaboration with the Project Manager of the Queens-WAHA Partnership, you will be responsible for fostering strong relationships and partnerships with the Indigenous communities in the Western James Bay region. What You’ll Do
Develop and implement strategies to build trust and collaboration with Cree First Nations communities, including Weenusk, Attawapiskat, Fort Albany, Kashechewan, Moosonee, and Moose Factory
Serve as the primary liaison between the health education campus and local communities
Organize and facilitate community meetings, focus groups, and other engagement activities to gather input on health programs
Support the recruitment of students and retention of Indigenous health professionals by promoting health careers and educational opportunities within the communities
Support implementation of the project’s strategic communications plan
Develop and execute marketing campaigns to attract student applications, including media and social media campaigns
Identify emerging issues and community input that require project response and coordination
Foster positive partnerships within and external to the region to advance the strategic direction of the health education campus
Prepare and report on Indigenous community engagement plans to the project team and partners
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Public Relations, Health Sciences, Education, Health Administration, Communications, or a related field is required
Master’s degree in education, Health or Business Administration, or a related field is strongly preferred
Designation in good standing with a professional college or regulatory body
2-3 years of experience in community engagement, communications, and marketing, ideally in the education or health care sector
Strong understanding of Cree First Nations culture, traditions, and health challenges.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience in developing partnerships and working effectively with Indigenous and Non-Indigenous organizations.
Ability to communicate in the local Cree language is considered an asset

The NICU NP scope of practice incorporates the skills and knowledge from the disciplines of nursing and perinatal care more specifically antenatal care for high risk pregnancies. Working in collaboration with a physician or group of physicians, the NP manages, directs and provides comprehensive care for a select patient population in a collaborative interdisciplinary team environment. The NP provides comprehensive patient care using advanced assessment skills and a sound knowledge of clinical therapeutics and provides indirect patient care services to support patient care, promote professional education, and advance knowledge through research and scholarly activities. A key area of focus for the NP is in enhancing partnerships with peer community and tertiary hospitals for our high-risk neonatal population. The NP will play a leadership role and perform quality improvement; by participating in policy and procedure development activities/programs; acting as a resource and serving as a consultant to individuals and groups within the professional community and other hospital/agencies. The NP will facilitate educational support to patients, families and staff and will be a critical member of the clinical leadership team supporting high quality care for high-risk neonatal patients. What you’ll do
Provide direct health care services to clients presenting with a wide variety and complexity of illnesses/diseases including communicable diseases, addictions, mental health and general health issues. Perform physical, addiction and psychiatric assessments, collect specimens, refer clients to the physician for further examination, administer prescribed treatments and medications according to protocols and make appropriate adjustments.
Observe, monitor, evaluate and document client progress, symptoms, and behavioral changes and performs a variety of health care interventions utilizing nursing skills and medical equipment including therapeutic interventions using a variety of modalities. Initiate and facilitate discharge planning; identifies referrals to other health professionals.
Using the nursing process and BCCNM standards of nursing practice provides care services such as maternal, fetal/newborn/infant assessment and administration of ordered drugs and therapy. Cerate a therapeutic environment by providing teaching and counseling.
Conduct initial and ongoing comprehensive nursing assessments of assigned patients, including ante partum and postpartum women and newborns.

Provide education and support to clients, families and groups using a health promotion approach regarding matters such as pregnancy, the birth experience, postpartum, newborn care and parenting, contraception, birth control, sexually transmitted diseases, upper respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections and minor dermatology problems. Also provides counseling on reduction of risk behaviours which can result in infants being born with neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) or fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS).
Prepare women and their families for discharge from hospital. Refers patients to Community Services as necessary. Liaise with the Ministry for Children & Family Development regarding discharge planning for the women and their infants, as required.
Initiate emergency care for the women/fetus/newborn in crisis by following escalation of care protocols including potential transfer to a higher level of care such as labour and delivery, high acuity unit (HAU) or Neonatal Intensive Care unit (NICU) as per protocol. Qualifications:
Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with BCCNM.
Advanced preparation in Critical Care and recent related clinical experience.
Successful completion of the Northern Health Cardiac Course or equivalent.
