The Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) is seeking an experienced leader to fill the key role of Director of Facilities Management. You will lead the daily operations of Maintenance, Regional Support Services, Facilities, Environmental Services, Food Services, and Plant Operations, while supporting infrastructure projects at all WAHA sites. This position requires the incumbent to relocate to Moosonee, Ontario.

Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) is the leading health care provider on the western James Bay coast. WAHA provides regional comprises of hospitals in Moose Factory, Fort Albany, and Attawapiskat, with a Health Centre in Moosonee. WAHA also provides regional outpatient programs, as well as Paramedicine services in Moose Factory, Moosonee, Fort Albany, Kashechewan, Attawapiskat, and Peawanuck. The span of services, complexity of care needs in the region, and the depth of health integration has made WAHA a leader and a model of health care services in Northern Ontario. WAHA consists of 450 employees, a Physician team, many students, as well as community stakeholders. It is affiliated with Queens University and offers many educational opportunities for current and prospective team members.

What You’ll Do
Provide coaching, mentoring, and capacity building to your respective direct reports and their teams.
Develop an Infrastructure asset management plan, identifying key organizational priorities and future planning needs
Lead the launch of a new facilities management information system to support workflows, manage infrastructure assets, as well as foster a positive client experience
Lead a process change to ensure a customer focus and a positive employee experience within the organizational housing team
Build internal, local, and Indigenous capacity to provide pathways to careers and future leadership positions.
Ensure effective management of all organizational facilities with safe patient care at the centre of prioritization
Manage facilities projects effectively to ensure efficient operations
Ensure that WAHA’s providing quality housing to all employees
Manage housing leases as well as temporary and locum housing assignments
Provide senior leadership and mentoring to your portfolio, all while being a role model and engaged leader for the organization.
What You Bring
Certificate in Facilities Management is required
Bachelor of Engineering, Business or Health Administration, Skilled Tradesperson at the Journeyman level, a related field, or a willingness to obtain is required
P,Eng designation is preferred
Experience working on capital projects
3-5 years of leadership experience in a public-sector setting
Experience in managing facilities in challenging environments in multiple locations
Experience working with both the federal and provincial health systems is considered an asset
Experience working in a unionized environment is considered an asset
