The primary responsibility of the NP is to provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis (including ordering and interpretation of tests), intervention (including prescribing of medications and paracentesis), management referral and evaluation of client care specializing in cirrhosis. The IBD unit at the University of Calgary represents one of the premier centres in the world recognized for its leadership in clinical care, education, and research as well as championing the role of the IBD NP nationally and internationally. The primary responsibility of the NP is to provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis (including ordering and interpretation of tests), intervention (including prescribing of medications), education and appropriate referral management of clients diagnosed with IBD, predominantly Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC).
