Founded in 2005, Inner City Health Associates (ICHA) has evolved and grown rapidly, while always rooted in their commitment to providing equity-driven and community-focused care. It started as a small collaboration of physicians and is now a major provider of interdisciplinary health services to people experiencing homelessness across the GTA, including significant outputs in public health, education and research. This expansion in size and scope has necessitated an ongoing evolution of the organization’s leadership model. While it started as a grassroots physician collective, ICHA has increasingly formalized its organizational structures to ensure its ability to deliver high-quality health care and to meet its obligations to its community and its funders.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Medical Director is responsible for implementing strategic directions in relation to the delivery of clinical services and for supporting the effective and efficient operations of Inner City Health Associates (ICHA). The position’s core purpose is to ensure the delivery of quality clinical services, programs and practices that are consistent with professional and best‐practice standards of care, and additionally, to support education and research initiatives that advance ICHA’s mission to offer excellent healthcare to people experiencing homelessness.
The Medical Director will bring medical leadership experience, serving and partnering with marginalized communities, and will advance ICHA’s strategic vision of providing health services that contribute to the end of homelessness. They will have demonstrated experience and a passion for delivering excellent community-based care with a focus on system integration. In addition, the Medical Director will be a senior healthcare leader who demonstrates a strong health equity lens and a community development and empowerment approach.
