Island Health is looking for a patient-focused team players to join their team of compassionate and dedicated nurses who provide care to acutely ill patients in our Critical Care units.
Our Intensive Care units are state of the art, and allow our multidisciplinary teams provide a comprehensive array of intensive care services for complex ventilated medical/surgical patients with multi-system failure. The staffing ratio is 1:1 for ventilated and critically unstable patients. ICU nurses are part of the Code Blue team except for the Cowichan District and West Coast General Hospitals. Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and organ donor maintenance is available at the Victoria and Nanaimo Hospitals.
The High Acuity units at Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria General Hospital and Nanaimo General Hospital act as an intermediate care area between Adult intensive Care and Inpatient Medicine/surgical units. The HAU provides care for adult patients requiring increased monitoring and resuscitation in a multidisciplinary environment. The unit's staffing includes Intensivist and Critical Care Nurses with specialty education training. The nurse to patient ratio in this unit is 1:2.
