Job Description

NSHN aims to be recognized for excellence in the provision of rural health care and service delivery in an integrated model. We are a small rural northern Ontario health care corporation with three sites situated along the north shore of Lake Huron, providing hospital services, long term care, and community support services the three sites are located in Blind River (main site), Thessalon and Richards Landing.

 

The Person:

As the successful candidate, you are registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario and have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. A master’s degree in Health Administration or another relevant discipline is preferred. As a knowledgeable and experienced clinical leader, you have a minimum of 4 to 7 years of diverse clinical, senior operational and nursing leadership experience. You have a diverse background and a passion for patient/resident and family centered-care and knowledge of rural healthcare. As part of this role, a flexible work location can be discussed should you be the successful candidate.

 

The Position:

As the Vice President of Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Executive, you will join NSHN at a time when we endeavor to work with our various partners in providing safe, high-quality, compassionate health care.

 

As the Vice President of Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Executive, you are a senior leader with accountabilities that include:

 

  • Providing clinical leadership to ensure care is delivered effectively and safely resulting in the best possible outcomes for the patient/resident. Areas include:
    • 2 Medical Inpatient Departments
    • 3 Emergency Departments
    • Co-located Long Term Care facility
    • Pharmacy
    • Physiotherapy
    • Medical Imaging & Laboratory
    • Community Support Services Programs
  • Participating as an active key member of internal and external committees and planning groups;
  • Providing vision and leadership in the development of partnerships that facilitates seamless care transitions across the health care sectors;
  • Establishing and responsibly leading the Continuous Quality Improvement program and Clinical Risk Management activities at the NSHN;
  • Acting as a valued member of the Senior Leadership Team, supporting effective strategic decision making on clinical matters;
  • Chief responsibility for oversight of accreditation and continuous quality improvement of clinical processes identified through accreditation reviews, working in concert with clinical leadership and organizational support functions;
  • Ensuring that areas of responsibility are managed in a fiscally responsible manner;
  • Carrying out necessary administrative functions as required.
