You are an RN with an overall love of children and a professional passion for pediatric health care, gained through your experience in pediatric acute or critical care. You’re seeking a weekday position with set 8-hour shifts, where you can put your Post Anesthetic and Peri-Anesthesia experience, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification into action. What you’ll do


The Medical Imaging Nurse is a key member of the Medical Imaging (MI) team at BC Children’s Hospital. Working as part of the multidisciplinary team, the MI Nurse provides direct patient care, including performing IV insertions, admitting patients, procedural induction, recovering and discharging of patients requiring sedation or general anesthesia, assisting Anesthesiologists and other MI team members with various procedures. Key duties include:

  • Provide emotional support and prepares patients for procedures prior to their visit to the department of MI, and for their follow up care afterwards.
  • Maintain patient records by collecting and documenting information, reviewing patient/family history, developing care plans, communicating potential problems and special needs, and charting.
  • Participate as a member of the health care team through contributing information in patient and family care conferences, rounds or huddles, and staff meetings.
  • Assess patient status prior to, during, and following MI procedures and communicates special needs to the MI team prior to imaging examination.


What you bring



  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM)
  • CPR Training – Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) – Level 1
  • 1 year of recent pediatric PACU experience in a tertiary level setting or one year of recent pediatric critical care experience in a tertiary level setting or a combination of pediatric critical care courses. Post Anesthetic nursing courses, Peri-Anesthesia Nursing course or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2 years’ recent experience working in a pediatric acute/critical care setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification


  • Broad knowledge of BCCNM standards for nursing practice, along with child and youth developmental theory
  • Effective communication skills for verbal/written interactions with pediatric patients and their families, as well as colleagues and other staff
  • Enjoys working with children, and has experience relating effectively to children and their families
  • Ability to participate as a member of multidisciplinary care team, and to function as a nursing resource

Wage: $36.23 to $47.58 per hour
