The Mental Health Partners (MHP) was formed in 2010 with three main areas of focus: specialized service delivery, capacity building across health system partners, and system enablement. MHP has recently expanded to include additional Ontario hospitals with tertiary psychiatric inpatient programs and is now comprised of ten partner hospitals in total: Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, North Bay Regional Health Centre, Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences, Providence Care, Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, St. Joseph’s Care Group (Thunder Bay), St. Joseph’s Health Care London, St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care.
The partnership is working to advance high-quality mental health care for all, including by implementing provincial strategic initiatives to advance Ontario’s mental health and addictions strategy, Roadmap to Wellness. MHP provides governance, leadership, and direction to strategic initiatives across the mental health system. Together, MHP has successfully influenced sustained provincial investment in mental health and addictions, and the evolution of an increasingly results-driven system with performance measurement as a key principle and practice.
The Executive Director is responsible for advancing the initiatives of the Partners. The Executive Director will be a proactive facilitator and planner who is responsible for moving MHP’s work forward, developing and maintaining key partnerships on behalf of MHP, and representing its work and priorities at the regional and provincial levels. This position will translate MHP’s strategy into day-to-day operations, including accountability for financial and human resources, taking actions that support a healthy workplace, embracing diversity, encouraging teamwork, and complying with all applicable and regulatory requirements.
Key Leadership Initiatives for the new Executive Director will be to:
▪ Enable the Achievement of Collective Strategic Priorities
▪ Continue to Build and Promote Collaborative Partnerships
▪ Create a Clear Voice for the Partners
The successful candidate will have at least 5-10 years of progressive leadership experience in a health-related field in system planning, strategy, government relations, or public affairs. The Executive Director must be an exceptionally strong communicator, change agent, and partnership builder, as well as visionary, engaging, and outcome focused. The Executive Director must inspire teams and stakeholders and be able to bring people, ideas, systems, and processes together to ensure a more integrated approach to exceptional mental health service delivery. The Executive Director must be an experienced, inclusive, and visionary change leader with leadership experience in similarly complex, multi- stakeholder environments.
