Kensington Health 

Kensington Health is a not-for-profit, community-based model of specialized healthcare services that creates consistently better health outcomes by tirelessly pursuing the best ways to respond to unmet health needs within the communities we serve. Kensington offers a diverse range of services including long-term care, hospice care and community care, cancer screening, diagnostic imaging, ophthalmology and eye tissue processing for transplants. Kensington is also the co-lead for the Mid-West Toronto Ontario Health Team, hosting the OHT’s Secretariat function. 

Kensington is also a proud teaching facility and academic centre of excellence, educating hundreds of learners each year. We have partnered with the University of Toronto, Toronto Metropolitan University and Humber College, along with nine other universities and colleges, to provide educational experiences in a variety of professions, including nursing, medicine, personal care, social work, kinesiology, therapeutic recreation, nutrition, information technology and administration. 

Kensington Health’s operating budget is $60M with 700 staff. The Kensington Health campus is located at 25 Brunswick Ave, located in the heart of Kensington Market. On the site formerly known as The Doctors Hospital, Kensington Health has been deeply rooted in the Kensington community for more than half a century, pioneering ambulatory, residential and community care in Toronto. 

The President and Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the effective and efficient leadership of the Corporation, staff and business according to the strategic direction set by the Board. They will ensure the ongoing integration of the various services of the Kensington Health Centre to support their continuous growth and development as one organizational entity. The new President and CEO will continue Kensington’s innovative leadership with 5 key objectives: 

  1. Ensure the stability of the organization post-pandemic operationally and financially
  2. Engaging and leading a great team of heath care professionals
  3. Determine Kensington’s strategic future in context of a dynamic and evolving health care climate including Ontario Health team leadership
  4. Stewarding Kensington’s capitalization strategy to unlock value from Kensington’s assets 
  5. Develop innovative partnerships across sectors to achieve the above as appropriate

The successful candidate will bring executive leadership experience in a complex multi-service health care environment coupled with a graduate level degree.  They will have broad knowledge of the health care environment and awareness of current trends, and best practices in health service delivery. As well as an understanding of and appreciation for the services offered by KHC; how services are delivered, integrated across the healthcare continuum, adapted and funded in a diverse community and ambulatory setting. The CEO will be an empowering, highly visible leader that is committed to engagement with strong emotional intelligence. The CEO will be forward thinking with the ability to anticipate and influence government direction, understand the future direction of healthcare, and strategically position KHC to be successful. In addition, they will have strong influencing skills, with an ability to advocate and persuade, leverage connections, motivate and build coalitions of support.
