ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are seeking an experienced clinician leader to join our team at an exciting time of transformation, to provide clinical leadership for safe and high-quality rehabilitation services and enable HIRO’s success in the evolving health and human services sector.

The Chief Rehabilitation Officer (CRO) will provide strategic leadership for health provider practice, ABI rehabilitation programming, quality and safety.  They will oversee residential and community-based client services, and lead planning, delivery and evaluation of ABI rehabilitation services.  They will facilitate the development and exchange of emerging best practices, as well as application of current best practices in HIRO’s programs. 

Reporting to the CEO as a member of the Senior Management Team, they will promote and facilitate a culture, systems and resources to optimize a collaborative interdisciplinary team approach that includes regulated health professionals, unregulated staff, clients and families.  Working closely with leadership, they will serve as a key liaison between the Adjunct/Sessional Providers and the agency and ensure that clinical services and rehabilitation programming are closely integrated within the agency and in the broader ABI community and health/social services system.  The CRO will play a leadership role in developing and stewarding relationships and revenues from non-fundraising sources.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Clinical Leadership for Rehabilitation Programming

  • Lead continuing implementation of the Clinical Advisory Panel’s recommendations related to client assessment, care planning, and rehabilitation
  • Lead ongoing planning, delivery and evaluation of ABI rehabilitation programming.
  • Ensure rehabilitation programming aligns to client needs and the organization’s strategic and operating plans
  • Facilitate application of current and emerging best practices in rehabilitation services, execution of research/knowledge translation initiatives and provide critical analysis of evidence-based practices and related data
  • Act as Clinical Lead as it relates to systemic/individual care plans/interventions

Services Management

  • Provide oversight and leadership for Quality, Health and Safety, Client Care Team, Privacy, Residential Services and Community Services
  • Provide leadership for Adjunct/Sessional Providers
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration among staff and providers
  • Act as a key contact for families regarding clinical information and decision-making
  • Oversee Admission and Intake processes, including admission and discharge from health system partners, internal inter-service transfers

Interdisciplinary Team Engagement

  • Promote and facilitate a collaborative interdisciplinary team approach that includes regulated health professionals, unregulated staff, clients and families
  • Promote engagement and alignment of Clinical Team members in the mission, vision, values and strategic development of HIRO
  • Liaison between client care teams (primarily consulting RHPs) and the agency

Clinical Leadership for Quality, Safety and Risk

  • Provide ongoing advice and counsel on matters related to clinical care
  • Develop policies and procedures to ensure safe and high-quality rehabilitation care
  • Participate in accreditation process; ensure ROPs are adhered to and recorded
  • Oversee ongoing credentialling of RHPs

External Partnership Engagement

  • With the CEO, build relationships and leadership with partners (i.e. academic, hospital, homecare) and other health and social service organizations towards improving the rehabilitation, health and well-being of the population we serve
  • Build upon HIRO’s leadership in ABI practices and contributes to a broader understanding of ABI on individuals and communities
  • Develop and steward relationships, proposals and applications for revenue development, e.g. government, grants, user fees

Organization Leadership

  • Participate in meetings of Board of Directors and Committees thereof
  • Manage relationships with third party service providers to ensure service/cost-effectiveness
  • Knowledge/succession management initiatives for portfolio areas
  • Act as Designate to the CEO, and other duties and tasks as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

To be considered you will have:

  • Membership in good standing of a Regulated Health Profession/College in Ontario (Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist);
  • 10+ years progressive management/leadership experience in health care;
  • Graduate degree in related field;
  • High team-orientation, with a collaborative, inclusive and collegial style;
  • A philosophy of client/family members as partners with the interdisciplinary team;
  • Proven expertise in program development and clinical practice development;
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous quality improvement and safety;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with and influence diverse stakeholders including clinicians, managers, unregulated providers and organizational partners;
  • A record of both working collaboratively, and exercising autonomy and judgment to deliverable accountabilities;
  • Ability to manage deliverables and shifting priorities on time;
  • Clinical expertise working with the ABI population and in ABI rehabilitation (an asset);
  • Ability to travel and provide own transportation.
