Lakeridge Health is Durham Region’s acute care provider, offering one of the broadest and most comprehensive ranges of acute care services in the province. With five hospitals, four Emergency Departments, a residential treatment centre and more than a dozen community healthcare locations, Lakeridge Health is dedicated to providing the highest standard of integrated care and best experience for patients and their families.
As one of Ontario’s largest community health systems serving one of the fastest growing areas in the province, Lakeridge Health is reimagining the future of healthcare in Durham Region. Along with its essential role as a regional provider of high-quality acute care, within the next five years Lakeridge Health aims to become a leading health system, focused on improving the overall health and wellness of the people in its region. With a new President and Chief Executive Officer in January 2021, and an aggressive strategic plan, Lakeridge Health is well poised to deliver on its goal of building system capacity and contributing to the health and wellness of residents in Durham, across the full healthcare continuum.
With a focus on creating an integrated system of care, Lakeridge Health has created two new leadership roles:
Reporting to the President and CEO, these two Health System Executives will be key members of the Senior Leadership Team and will oversee a number of the clinical programs for this multi-sited hospital. These leaders will work collaboratively with other senior leaders in the organization to provide leadership for the clinical operations, thereby ensuring that Lakeridge delivers an integrated approach to service delivery across the region of Durham.
The Health System Executive, Integrated Care Focus on Medicine and Aging portfolio will include: Inpatient Medicine, Palliative Care, GAINS Geriatric Clinic, Transition Management, Alternate Level of Care, Post Acute Specialty Services (PASS) and Pharmacy. As well, this role will oversee the development and operation of a new LTC home, with up to 320 beds will be built using an innovative design/build process. The home’s modern design, including best practices in infection prevention and control capabilities and resident living areas will promote the health and safety of seniors with a range of needs and abilities. With this new state of the art facility, Durham Region will have much needed additional long-term care capacity and the community will be able to access high-quality LTC services faster.
The ideal candidates will have achieved qualification as either a nurse, physician or member of an allied health discipline, coupled with a Masters Degree in a health-related or business field; 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in an acute-care environment, complemented with senior leadership experience in a complex integrated health delivery system; broad knowledge of the healthcare environment and awareness of current trends and best practices in health service delivery, within a medical and administrative dyad structure.
