Reporting to the Vice President, Patient Services and Chief Nursing Executive, and working in close partnership with the Joint Medical Director and the Chief of the Cardiac Program, the Director, Regional Cardiac Program and Critical Care (Director) will ensure that the delivery of quality regional cardiac programs are in alignment with the organization’s strategic direction to provide patient and family-centred care in collaboration with other SMGH’s programs, Ontario West, the KW4 Ontario Health Team, and CorHealth.
With accountability for a budget of $44,000,000 and a regional portfolio that includes a full range of advanced cardiac services, the Director will influence and impact the continuum of Cardiac services on a broader scale. Leading a large and inter-professional team across the organization, the Director will ensure the delivery of strategic initiatives, and will play a vital role in transforming and sustaining excellence in regional service delivery. Program and services include Non-Invasive Diagnostic Testing, Cardiac Catheterization, Angioplasty, Heart Rhythm Program, Heart Function Clinic, Cardiac Surgery, and Cardiovascular Intensive Care. There are a total of 64 inpatient beds including critical care areas.

The successful candidate will have 5-7 years of progressive, professional experience in healthcare and must be a member in good standing of a regulated health profession. Clinical experience in the areas of Cardiac Health would be considered a strong asset. The new Director will excel by building relationships, promoting collaboration, managing change, and seeking out innovative solutions. As a transformational and results-oriented leader, the successful candidate will have the ability to continuously raise the level of care and continuously improve the staff and patient experience and engage deeply with the care teams with a relentless passion for patient-and family-centred care, inter-professional practice, and patient and family engagement.
