About the Work

The Nurse in Charge (NIC) is located within the Fort McPherson Health Centre and reports directly to the Regional Manager, Community Health Centres. The NIC will manage the delivery of community health services to the local community through the local health centre which supports approximately 6600+ encounters per year. This is accomplished through supervision of Community Health Nurses, care taker and administrative staff, relief staff, as well as the supervision and administrative guidance and direction of Home Support Worker, Home Support/Elders Day Program Worker, and a Community Health Representative. The NIC manages a $1.4 million budget allocated to provide standardized health care programs and services.

The NIC helps guide nurses from task orientation to more empowered analytical thinking and care giving approaches. These services have a direct impact on the quality of services delivered to clients and their families, and on the cost of the services provided.
