The Middlesex Hospital Alliance (MHA) is seeking a dynamic and charismatic Vice President Clinical Services & CNO (Chief Nursing Officer) to join its senior leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly qualified and motivated professional to assume a pivotal role in this highly respected organization.  

The Vice President Clinical Services & CNO provides strategic leadership as the patient care executive leader responsible for all nursing and other designated patient care functions/services (including professional practice) within the hospital organization. This position provides direction, leadership, planning, organizational and general management for all aspects of patient care ensuring integration of services and compliance with long range objectives and strategies, including the provision of excellent quality services and responsible fiscal management. As Vice President Clinical Services & CNO you will also participate and/or lead various leadership and regional committees with external stakeholders and partners. This includes active participation in the Western Ontario Health Team. You must possess a thorough understanding of the healthcare environment and possess broad experience with a full range of functions, systems and support, and allied health services, forecasting needs and securing new programming and related funding. The individual will also assist in the development of short and long range operational and capital plans.

As a member of the MHA’s senior leadership team reporting to the President & CEO, you will be a trusted partner to the President & CEO and will provide guidance and counsel to the senior leadership team in all clinical and operational affairs; ensure the achievement of current and long-range goals and provide direction and guidance for all activities in accordance with policies, goals and objectives established by the CEO and Board of Directors. You will work in partnership with the Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff and others to direct and deliver programs to meet patient care needs. You will also be expected to provide mentorship and coaching for managers within your portfolio.

Qualifications/Skills/Abilities:

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • A relevant Masters degree is required with a minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in a complex health care setting
  • Excellent track record with Board of Directors, medical staff and external relations and partners
  • Collaborative and visionary leader with a proven track record of inspiring people and mobilizing teams
  • Ability to manage to specific performance standards and to hold team members accountable
  • Recognized for inter-professional systems-level thinking
  • Current drivers license and vehicle

About MHA:

The MHA is made up of two partner sites; Four Counties Health Services (FCHS) and Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital (SMGH). FCHS is a modern primary acute care hospital located in the Village of Newbury, at the intersection of Lambton, Kent, Middlesex, and Elgin Counties (approximately halfway between London and Chatham). FCHS is located in a peaceful country setting with easy access to all major highways of Southwestern Ontario and Michigan. The facility provides 24 hour emergency and medical care as well as numerous diagnostic and ambulatory services. SMGH serves a population of approximately 35,000 residents. It is located approximately 40 km west of the City of London. SMGH is a full service community hospital providing a comprehensive range of medical, surgical, diagnostic and ambulatory care services
