Research and Quality Improvement:
On Aug. 1, 2017, Providence Healthcare, St. Joseph’s Health Centre and St. Michael’s Hospital (the Network) officially united under a single health network, to advance the health of our patients, clients and residents, and our urban communities. The Network’s more than 10,000 staff and physicians serve communities from Etobicoke to Scarborough. With an annual budget of more than $1 billion and 1,100 inpatient beds, the Network provides the full spectrum of care from primary, secondary, community, tertiary and quaternary care services to post-acute through rehabilitation, palliative care and long-term care.
Rooted in the legacy of our founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph, the three organizations share a commitment to Catholic healthcare, a vocation to serve the most vulnerable and those most in need with compassion and dignity; to improve health and the overall social determinants of health, rather than just treat disease. True to Catholic Social Teaching, a calling to social justice and the common good, our organizations prioritize a holistic and compassionate approach, recognizing the whole person in the community, the fundamental link between spirituality and healing, and the diverse cultural and spiritual needs of those served.
