The Position

Reporting to the Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer (VP/CFO), the Director, Supply Chain (Director) will be accountable for the strategy and operations of the Supply Chain functions (Procurement and Logistics) at SickKids. The new Director will integrate supply chain and logistics services with the hospital’s primary functions, develop and implement policies and procedures that guide, assess, and improve supply chain performance. He/She is responsible for ensuring that SickKids has the right products at the right time and at the right price. The Director will be a key advisor to the VP/CFO and an important partner with clinical and corporate leaders within the organization. In addition, the Director will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining good relationships with vendors and distributors. 

Key leadership initiatives for the new Director will be to:

  • Actively contribute to the development and implementation of a proactive business-oriented supply chain and logistics strategy, enabling SickKids to realize opportunities for strategic optimization and value-added service.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and strategic growth by forecasting organizational needs and implementing best practices.
  • Develop and manage supplier relationship management activities with other shared service organizations and a range of vendors, suppliers, and distributors, including the measurement of service levels and key performance indicators.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with supporting business units, departments, and clinical programs.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to lead and support cross-functional projects related to continuous improvement initiatives and customer service optimization.


The successful candidate will have 7-10 years of practical hands-on supply chain and logistics experience in a similarly large, complex organization. He/She will excel by building relationships, promoting collaboration, managing change, and seeking out innovative solutions. A transformational and results-oriented leader, the successful candidate will have the ability to continuously adapt and improve supply chain performance and ensure day-to-day operating policies, systems and procedures contribute to organizational effectiveness.
