CGMH is an acute care hospital providing emergency care, diagnostic services including lab, imaging and cardio respiratory therapy, as well as two inpatient units (medicine and surgery). The Hospital also provides outpatient care including dialysis and a wide range of clinics including mental health and rehabilitation services. The Opportunity:

The Health Systems Analyst is an integral member of the Health Information Systems (“HIS”) team. This position works closely with other members of the HIS team to support business applications for CGMH including both clinical and business applications. The Health Systems Analyst will participate in support activities, system and business analysis, system upgrades, patching and system testing. This is a second level application support position that requires both a technical and business understanding of supported applications. 

The Health Systems Analyst will be responsible for implementations, upgrades, research & development, providing maintenance, support to end-users, providing guidance, supervision and training instructions to Super-users. The Health Systems Analyst will be responsible for investigating/assessing end-user needs and advocating for improvements through CGMH’s change management processes 

Qualifications:

  • College Diploma or University degree in a clinical discipline required or equivalent work experience in a Health Information Systems environment.
  • A minimum of 1 - 3 years’ experience working in a Health Information Systems environment.
  • Meditech MIS module experience preferred
  • Experience with implementation and support of HL7 interfaces on an enterprise interface engine 
  • Proven experience in the design, development and implementation of software and hardware solutions software or products
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and provide solutions
  • Experience providing excellent customer service
  • Excellent ability to translate technical terminology for communication to non-technical audiences
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office systems Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint 
  • Must strive to continuously provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers
  • Must adhere to the duties of workers, as stipulated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Must have an ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) in the English language in order to provide excellent communication with team members, patients and families. Ability to communicate in additional language(s) is considered an asset.
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must be dedicated to professional growth & development
  • Must be able to perform all bona fide and essential duties of the position, which may include physical demands such as moving/transferring patients, pushing, pulling, bending, etc.
  • Must have demonstrated excellent attendance/performance record
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work independently and effectively communicate with other members of the health care team
  • Experience with scripting engines such as summit or Automate Pro preferred 
  • Experience connecting medical devices to other systems e.g. Pixys, Philips etc preferred

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Using sound Project Management theory and industry best practice standards build and implement new application systems
  • Provide end-user support
  • Update, maintain and monitor HL7 interfaces to various applications
  • Maintaining the clinical and business systems, identifying areas for improvement
  • Provide advice on system integration with other applications
  • Performs all duties as may be assigned
  • Actively participate in application upgrade and implementation projects
  • Participate in CGMH HIS groups/committees
  • Communicate changes, updates and information on system changes
  • Create and maintain documentation instruction tools, end-user guides
  • Regular rounding to end-users to assess usage of applications 
  • Develop partnerships with other users of applications systems to gain insight into optimization of these systems
  • Participate at Regional application team meetings

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours weekly, and participation in an on-call rotation. Please be reminded that as a Hospital, in order to provide the necessary patient care, our operations run 24/7. Therefore, depending on the program for which you are applying, it may be an expectation that you are available to work week days and weekends, as well as all shifts - days, evenings, and nights. 

Wage: $76,137.23 – $93,639.18 per annum.
