POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director, Surgical Services & Women Child Program, the Manager, WCCU is responsible for the programs of the Women Child Program including labour and delivery, pediatrics, intensive care nursery and perinatal care. The Manager, WCCU provides leadership, direction and educational opportunities to ensure the delivery of quality services. Other key responsibilities include responding collaborating with hospital leadership and medical staff to ensure the continuous improvement of the WCCU program, responding risk and quality concerns.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ontario College of Nurses registration
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing; Current CPN (C) certification, Master’s Degree is an asset
  • Minimum two years of supervision/management experience
  • Five years working experience in a women and child care unit, with progressive leadership experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with the BFI
  • Experience in a unionized setting
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, decision-making and interpersonal skills
  • Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and direction to a team of staff
  • Leadership abilities to involve and motivate a team of diverse professionals in achieving desired results
  • Excellence in working with a team and community partners
  • Excellent communicator with staff, physicians, families and community partners
  • Commitment to teamwork
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
  • Available for regular assignment of Hospital Administrator On-Call responsibilities (assigned on a rotating basis to cover evenings and weekends)
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
  • Knowledge of and adherence to GBHS “CARE” behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and LEAD (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others)
  • Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at GBHS through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes
