Project Manager

We are looking for professionals with leadership, project management and program evaluation expertise to join our team.

Please consider a position as a Project Manager with the Long-Term Care Home Renewal Branch within the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, where you will manage, coordinate and implement the development of long-term care redevelopment projects for Long-Term Care Homes (LTCH).

What can I expect to do in this role?

As Project Manager, you will project manage and coordinate:

  • he development of long-term care redevelopment project readiness survey(s), project scheduling parameters, scheduling, monitoring progress, and the provision of advice, consultation and expertise to key stakeholder and health service partners for a capital project readiness and scheduling
  • all aspects of review and decision-making regarding surveys and scheduling of individual and chain long-term care capital redevelopment projects and integrating individual project schedules into LHIN and province-wide schedules, ensuring compliance to industry best practices, ministry goals, and contractual and accountability mechanisms
  • the implementation of Long-Term Care (LTC) capital redevelopment projects

How do I qualify?

Project Management and Leadership Skills:

  • you have project and financial management, and organizational planning, to effectively balance the workload of a portfolio of capital planning submissions
  • you can provide project leadership of capital planning submissions and provide advice to LTCHs / health service providers

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

  • you can provide risk assessment to analyze a range of planning, design, procurement and financial documents
  • you can evaluate capital plans, including planning, design, procurement and financial documents, and review/evaluate post construction operating submissions
  • you can critically analyze and apply benchmarks to capital plans and make recommendations for approvals
  • you can assess compliance with ministry program/policies, contractual and accountability mechanisms, and with industry standards and best practices
  • you can identify and analyze project implementation barriers/issues and risks
  • you can pro-actively develop strategies to mitigate risks, and innovative solutions to resolve complex issues

Communication, Negotiation and Relationship Management Skills:

  • you have oral and written communications to prepare decision-making and briefing notes, correspondence, and provide input to corporate submissions
  • you have consultation and presentation skills to provide advice, information, and consultation throughout the capital planning and development process
  • you have negotiation and presentation skills to resolve complex issues, including negotiating changes to project scope, design, cost estimates, budget, and timeline
  • you have relationship management and communication skills to develop partnerships, linkages and working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • •ou have advisory skills to provide functional advice, expertise and recommendations to senior management
  • you have interpersonal and team building skills to work effectively on cross-functional teams

Health Systems Knowledge:

  • you have knowledge of health care system and services, such as the role/mandate of LHINS, health service providers, including LTCHs, Infrastructure Ontario, health capital planning and project development processes, health care system/services and major issues, service delivery models, authorities, funding mechanisms and governance
  • you have knowledge of the strategic directions and health legislation (such as Long-Term Care Homes Act , Public Hospitals Act, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Act, Mental Health Act, Private Hospitals Act, Independent Health Facilities Act), policies, practices, procedures, governance, strategic directions and priorities for infrastructure development / renewal planning
  • you have knowledge of the organizational structure and major contacts/stakeholders and the health service provider sector

Computer Skills:

  • you are proficient with computer applications utilizing word processing, graphics and spreadsheet software

Salary Range: $71,243 - $104,983 per year
