Chief Communications and Corporate Affairs Officer Ontario Health is implementing one of the most significant health system transformations in Canada. The Position Ontario Health is seeking an accomplished, astute, and highly strategic executive to serve as its next Chief Communications and Corporate Affairs Officer. Reporting to the President and CEO and serving as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Chief Communications and Corporate Affairs Officer will provide enterprise leadership for Ontario Health communications, corporate and public affairs, and stakeholder, patient, and family engagement. This is a highly influential role at the intersection of government, health system transformation, and enterprise leadership. As a trusted advisor to the President and CEO, Board Chair, and senior leaders, the Chief Communications and Corporate Affairs Officer will help shape Ontario Health’s strategic positioning, reputation, and relationships with government and the health system. A central priority will be maintaining strong relationships with Ministers’ offices, Ministry leadership, and other senior government decision makers. The Chief Communications and Corporate Affairs Officer will bring executive judgment, anticipate emerging issues and sensitivities, and ensure Ontario Health remains closely aligned with government priorities and expectations. The Chief Communications and Corporate Affairs Officer will also position communications as a driver and enabler of the Ontario Health strategic agenda. Through proactive planning and a clear cadence of communications, they will help ensure Ontario Health has a compelling story to share about its priorities, progress, and impact, both within the organization and with external stakeholders. The Communications and Corporate Affairs portfolio includes internal and external communications, media and issues management, digital communications, brand and reputation, and stakeholder, patient, and family engagement. This is not simply a communications leadership role. It is an enterprise role for an executive who can navigate complexity, influence at the highest levels, and help advance Ontario Health’s mandate across government and the health system. The Person The ideal candidate is an accomplished senior executive with significant leadership experience in communications, corporate affairs, or public affairs within government, the broader public sector, health care, or another complex and highly visible environment. They bring deep experience working with elected officials and their teams, senior public servants, Boards, CEOs, and executive teams. They are recognized for sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to anticipate issues, navigate complex government environments, and build trust with senior decision makers. An exceptional communicator and relationship builder, they can translate complex issues into compelling messages, build trust across diverse stakeholders, and operate effectively within a Crown agency environment. They combine strategic thinking with sound judgment and pragmatism and bring breadth and versatility to contribute beyond the traditional boundaries of a communications portfolio.
