Position Title: Director, Women’s and Children’s Health

Trillium Health Partners was formed in 2011 through the voluntary merger of Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre, two large and forward-looking academic community hospitals. The new entity (or facility) is the largest community-based hospital in Ontario and, through numerous clinical programs and services, serves a diverse population in western Toronto, Mississauga and beyond that exceeds several million people.

Trillium Health Partners’ (THP) focus is to provide the highest quality care and an exceptional experience for patients and families every time; the right care, in the right place, at the right time; and to drive research, innovation and education to help bridge the gaps to improve the journey and deliver better patient outcomes.

The strategic plan of THP envisions a new approach to health – working in partnership to create an inter-connected system of care that is organized around the patient, both inside the hospital and beyond its walls. Trillium Health Partners has 1,250+ beds, an operating budget of $1 billion annually, and operates on three main sites with additional services at satellite sites.


Leading one of the largest program of its kind in the province, the Director will report to the Vice President, Patient Care Services, and work in close partnership with the Chief and Medical Directors for Women’s and Children’s Health. The Director will play a vital role in building and sustaining excellence in this comprehensive Regional Maternal Newborn Child and Youth Clinical Integration Program and continue to build on key regional partnerships. Overseeing a program area with a budget of $45M and close to 10,000 births, the Women’s and Children’s Health portfolio includes: Birthing Services, Neonatal Intensive Care Units, Paediatrics, Gynaecology including Gyne Oncology, and Women’s & Children’s Ambulatory Services across several sites.

Leading a large and multi-disciplinary team, the Director will ensure the delivery of several initiatives designed to yield high quality care for patients and their families while streamlining and standardizing service offerings and clinics across the network.  The Director will also oversee the introduction of new technology, including micro-robotics surgical tools, and play a meaningful role in functional planning for new space and capital.

Key Deliverables:

  1. With a focus on clinical excellence, identify, develop, and implement patient and family-centered care initiatives that emphasize transformative care and evidence-based outcomes;
  2. Develop and nurture strategic alliances and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders across the continuum of women’s and children’s health, driving towards continued integration, program excellence and system innovation;
  3. Lead several priority projects  that are designed to improve the care experience for women, newborns, children and youth; and
  4. Partner and collaborate within the LHIN to streamline the delivery of care and enhance alignment with related regional services.

  • Maintains consistently elevated standards of quality, access and patient safety
  • Continues to build and improve his/her team by encouraging professional development, strengthening accountability and improving outcomes
  • With a focus on clinical excellence, continues to identify, develop and implement patient and family-centered care initiatives that emphasize integrated care and evidence-based outcomes
  • Aligned with a strong academic and research focus, supports and advances the Hospital’s academic mandate and seeks out inter-professional collaboration opportunities by emphasizing the clinical/scientific/research interface


The successful candidate will possess the following experience, skills, attributes, and capabilities:

  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience  in healthcare and  a member in good standing of a regulated health profession Experience in the Canadian market 
  • A masters prepared clinician /strong seasoned  leader in a large/complex program with the ability to continuously raise the level of care, implement innovative initiatives and manage resources
  • High level of political acuity and confidence leading a very public and visible program
  • A strong ability to build and navigate complex relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • A confident operational leader with the ability to manage multiple teams, break down operational silos, and develop leadership competencies in management
  • The ability to emphasize the importance of and foster strong collaborative cross-practice relationships both within this program and with other key portfolios across the hospital
  • Strong organizational skills coupled with passion for leadership, a high EQ, and commitment to relationship building and transparent leadership
  • Clinical experience in the areas of Women’s and Children’s Health is considered a strong asset
