With an overall budget of $70 million, it is a highly complex organization that operates as 9 individual business entities across the healthcare service continuum including residential and community care, ambulatory care and a research institute. The Kensington Health organizations are supported by the Kensington Health Foundation. RESIDENTIAL & COMMUNITY DIVISION A 350-bed long-term care home, located in two adjoining residences. An expanding hospice that currently includes a 10-bed residence and a day program providing palliative and end-of-life care. An on-site and in-home community support program that enhances the social, intellectual and physical well-being of seniors and disabled adults. AMBULATORY DIVISION A state-of-the-art academic eye surgery and clinical centre of excellence providing ambulatory surgical procedures, medical vision care and ophthalmic training, education, and research. An ambulatory gastroenterology clinic providing endoscopy and colonoscopy screening procedures as well as infusion therapy. A community-based radiology clinic providing general x-ray, ultrasound, mammography, biopsies and bone mineral density services. The Eye Bank of Canada (Ontario division) which collects, preserves and distributes donated human eyes and tissue for sight restoration and sight-saving transplants and grafts. RESEARCH DIVISION The Kensington Research Institute supports the advancement of health care through the funding of research programs. We will look to you, as Director of Finance, to set priorities and provide financial leadership for the overall finance portfolio. Reporting to the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, and leading a dynamic team of professionals, you will be responsible for planning, controllership and delivery of quality financial services. You will be a critical partner to Operations, providing financial insight, and will work closely with business leaders across the organization. The role requires someone who has an understanding of working within a diverse and complex funding environment and can reimagine financial management as the organization continues to grow and evolve. As Director of Finance, you will draw upon your management expertise and proven strengths as an analytical and creative thinker to: Provide business and financial leadership to the organization to support the successful execution of the organization’s strategy. Leading the reporting, monitoring and forecasting of the organization’s financial position. This includes developing and implementing appropriate analytical tools for reviewing financial and statistical information to enable effective decision making. Lead the financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes to enable the organization to effectively plan, monitor and respond to business risks and opportunities. Forecasting and managing cash flow, including appropriate investment of excess cash, management of credit facilities and regular reporting on short and long term cash flow forecasts. Manage the controllership function to ensure that finances are in accordance with policies, procedures and generally accepted accounting principles. Lead and manage the annual audit process. Lead special engagements which include possible system conversions, internal control reviews and financial modelling to support business cases. Establish and maintain strong relationships and partnerships in a complex multi-stakeholder environment, including, but not limited to, external auditors, funders, banks and insurance providers. Success as Director of Finance will call for an impressive profile that includes the following skill set: The ability to work effectively and in collaboration with leadership to support a culture of quality, performance and measurement. Demonstrated experience and accountability with financial operations, systems and internal control. Proven experience in financial reporting, accounting policies and procedures. Experience at a management level. Required Professional Designation/Certificate: Professional Accounting Designation (CPA). Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited university. Required Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of generally accounting principles and best practices in reporting, planning, and budgeting. Superior communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills to work with a variety of leaders across the organization. Excellent knowledge of tools, systems and databases used in financial reporting and modelling. Proficiency in MS Office suite and database software. Required Skills & Abilities: Excellent relationship building, interpersonal skills and change management. Demonstrated analytical capabilities and superior oral and written communication skills. Ability to make and take responsibility for, and demonstrate commitment to appropriate decisions in a timely manner. Adaptability to constantly changing circumstances while maintaining a professional perspective. Willingness and ability to maintain flexibility in the event of unforeseen situations. Required Experience: Five to seven years of experience at a senior level at an Ontario health care organization and/or a similarly complex environment/sector.
