The Position The Executive Vice President, Clinical Operations and Chief Nurse Executive (EVP/CNE), together with a highly qualified team of Vice Presidents, Directors, and Managers, will provide the overall executive leadership for all of the clinical programs and clinical support services for SJHH. This is an extraordinary portfolio encompassing over 12 clinical programs, 4 diagnostic support areas and a number of professional services across multiple sites. The EVP/CNE will work with a large executive team, the Chief of Staff, physicians, staff, volunteers, patients and families, and all key Hamilton-area Partners and communities to ensure the provision of high-quality, faith-based, compassionate, and integrated care. The EVP/CNE will provide vision, strategy, and collaborative leadership to ensure that the clinical leaders and their teams continue to provide innovative, inspirational, and high-quality patient care programs and services across all inpatient, outpatient, and community services. The EVP/CNE will also play a key role, in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team and direct reports, in the areas of quality and risk management, financial and utilization management, planning, infection control, patient safety, and professional practice. The EVP/CNE will be accountable for fostering an environment in which collaboration is valued and excellence in clinical care and professional development is promoted and achieved. Additionally, the EVP/CNE will play a key role in enabling better care integration with healthcare partners and providers across the continuum of care, consistent with the Hamilton Health Team priorities, to ensure better coordination of care across the region. Key leadership initiatives for the new EVP/CNE will be to: Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team, Physicians, Staff, Patients and Families, and Partners, to lead, plan, and deliver healthcare services in a current and post-pandemic world. Support the organization in its achievement of key clinical, academic, and research milestones that drive a high performing, compassionate, caring, and innovative patient-focused culture. Advance an ambitious, evolving strategic plan by implementing a vision that enhances clinical excellence, supports teamwork, and collaborative/integrated models of care in a rapidly changing healthcare world. Facilitate and strengthen SJHH’s relationship with its system partners to improve access, flow, and coordination of services, while continuing to advance efforts of the Hamilton Health Team and other integrated care initiatives. Lead an integrated vision of collaborative practice, while providing leadership to professional practice, education, and future strategic directions. Implement effective strategies aligned with organizational priorities that complement the operational agenda, while ensuring resources effectively meet demand. Experience The successful candidate will be a visionary, accomplished nursing executive with a passion for patients, people, and high-quality performance. You will be highly relational leader with at least 10 years of progressive VP-level experience in a similarly complex healthcare environment, along with a track record of leading patient engagement, system integration, and clinical transformation. In addition to having strong credentials, you will be an exceptional relationship developer with a history of working with high-performing teams and achieving results through excellence in execution.
