To support us on our journey, Sinai Health is looking for a respected and progressive leader with extensive Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (PLM) experience to join our team. This leader will share our vision for an integrated system of connected care and play a critical role in supporting Sinai Health’s vision, people and business plans, and core values and competencies. The Department of PLM at Sinai Health is a complex department that provides 24/7 laboratory services. It is comprised of six divisions - Clinical Chemistry, Lab Hematology, Transfusion Medicine Services, Surgical Pathology/Autopsy, Cytopathology and Diagnostic Medical Genetics. It also has two Ambulatory Labs that do outpatient specimen collection. PLM services are provided to the Bridgepoint site of Sinai Health, hospitals in and outside of the GTA as well as Cancer Care Ontario/Ministry of Health. The Administrative Director, together with the medical leadership will be responsible for the overall strategic vision and leadership for PLM, as well as day to day operations. The Administrative Director, reports to the Vice President, Performance on all matters related to clinical program operations, quality, patient safety and risk, and professional and academic practice. The Administrative Director, PLM functions as a co-leader with the Chief of Pathology and Lab Medicine in providing oversight of the department ensuring the provision of quality services and compliance to regulatory, accreditation and lab licensing requirements. The Administrative Director has responsibility for capital and operating budgets, human resource planning, quality management system and accreditation to ensure all regulatory and laboratory licensing requirements are met. The Administrative Director also engages in discussions with other hospitals and external stakeholders for service collaboration and the provision of referred-in testing for revenue generation. The incumbent will provide seasoned leadership for planning, management, implementation, integration and coordination of PLM Services in support of Sinai Health’s Mission, Vision and Values ensuring excellence, effective leadership, and financial stability. They will collaborate with and support the advancement of shared services ensuring cooperative relationships that maximize the success of PLM and Clinical Diagnostic Services as a whole. The Administrative Director will have held progressive leadership positions managing clinical staff in complex environments, preferably an academic health organization, supported by a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in a related field and a demonstrated commitment to professional and personal development. The incumbent is licensed in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologist in Ontario (CMLTO) and has proven experience managing a clinical PLM laboratory, preferably in a teaching hospital with multiple clients. Excellent communication and building effective relationships with internal and external partners are also essential to be successful in this role. A strong understanding of process improvement and project management are definite assets.
