The Organization www.cwsds.ca A registered not-for-profit charitable organization, CWSDS is funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services and is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Providing a wide range of residential and non-residential services for individuals with developmental disabilities and complex needs, across multiple residences in the communities of Oakville, Burlington, Mississauga, Halton Hills and Georgetown, CWSDS is an agency known to drive best practices in the developmental services sector. With diverse specialized programming and services that range from geriatrics, high intensity treatment programs and community supports and outreach, the CWSDS team includes clinicians, psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, behavioural, occupational and speech language therapists along with experienced direct care workers. Together, they demonstrate the skills, experience and character needed to deliver effective supports to individuals with complex disabilities, and who feel passionate about bettering their lives. The Role Reporting to the Board of CWSDS, the CEO will lead the organization, and champion its reputation, vision, mission and values, assuming the following key responsibilities. Operations: Ensure the resources, organizational structure, internal controls, and reporting structures are in place to support and measure operational performance and quality metrics. Evaluate programs and services and introduce appropriate actions to both maintain and improve quality of service delivery and the effective operation and administration of the organization. Strategic Planning: Continue the implementation of the Strategic Plan, employing an inclusive and collaborative planning process with the Board, the senior management team, and staff in the core areas of: delivery of specialized services through innovation, advocacy and collaboration, ensuring excellence in service delivery, building operational efficiencies and generation of new revenue sources, and optimizing the business processes. Project Management: Ensure the organization has a robust project management capability to handle special operational and development/expansion projects. Stakeholder Relations: Establish a strong, transparent and accountable relationship with the Board of Directors and its Committees; senior management and staff. Develop and sustain strong working relationships with relevant external stakeholders, including government(s), sector and corporate partners, donors, other related organizations. Marketing: Build CWSDS’ reputation and excellence in the developmental services field and beyond —so CWSDS continues to be seen as innovative, leading edge, and the “go to” organization serving people with complex disabilities and their families, staying abreast of emerging local and global trends and issues affecting the developmental services sector. HR: Build employee attraction and engagement in support of the CWSDS vision, purpose and values. Support the ongoing building of a team culture within CWSDS that lives its values, champions its vision and strategic objectives, encourages and inspires collaboration and sharing across the organization, and rewards entrepreneurialism, innovation, and creativity. Key Selection Criteria Professional Experience/Qualifications: Direct work experience in the developmental services sector is not a requirement; however, knowledge of, a connection to, and/or a demonstrable ability to understand/relate to the challenges faced by individuals with complex disabilities and their families is important. This ‘understanding’ may come from work in other sectors, such as health care, long-term care, volunteer work, a family circumstance, personal experience in difficult human circumstances, etc. 10+ years’ experience in leadership role, with proven successes in change management, financial oversight and operational efficiencies; Proven ability to develop and build strong internal and external relationships; Success in developing new, innovative and progressive strategic plans leading to performance enhancements and reputation/sector leadership; Successful experience building organizational capacity resulting in enhanced organizational effectiveness and efficiency, improved policies, procedures, processes, reports, metrics, data gathering and data management; Experience in advising, supporting and ensuring a strong working relationship with a Board of Directors/Committees in a transparent, open, collaborative partnership; Experience in a 24/7 work environment; Union experience. Education Post-graduate degree or equivalent (such as a Master’s degree or professional designation) is preferred; Evidence of continuous professional and personal learning.
