Reporting to the Manager, Renal Services, you will provide nursing care to patients with chronic and acute renal failure undergoing hemodialysis. Working both independently and interdependently as a member of the multidisciplinary team with other care providers, you will establish therapeutic relationships with patients and their families through assessment of bio-psycho-social and learning needs and work collaboratively with patients/families to support and facilitate informed choice and self care. QUALIFICATIONS: Registration with BC College of Nursing Professionals as a practicing RN registrant and current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification are required. Recent (within past 5 years) hemodialysis experience or completion of recognized program in Nephrology Nursing or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is essential. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team and to deal effectively with others. Ability to organize and prioritize workload. Ability to teach patients/families. Ability to apply decision-making and analytical skills. Ability to operate related equipment. Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for acute and chronic renal failure patients undergoing hemodialysis. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
