Executive Vice President, Corporate Administration and Chief Financial Officer Joseph Brant Hospital (JBH) is a full-service community teaching hospital serving the communities of Halton and Hamilton, including Burlington, Waterdown, Flamborough, Milton and Stoney Creek, with a skilled staff of 175 physicians, 1,500 full-and part-time staff and more than 600 volunteers. In conjunction with McMaster University, JBH is a Clinical Education Campus, and designated as an Academic Community Teaching Hospital. As part of a $450M redevelopment project, JBH recently opened its new seven storey state-of-art Michael Lee-Chin & Family Patient Tower which features a new Emergency Department; 172 acute inpatient beds; 9 new Operating Rooms and a new post-anaesthetic care unit; an expanded Diagnostic Imaging Department; expanded medical, surgical and outpatient services; expanded Cancer Clinic; expanded Intensive Care Unit; renovated Special Care Nursery, level 2 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; an expanded and modernized laboratory; and 70 per cent single-patient rooms. The Position Reporting to the President and CEO, the Executive Vice President, Corporate Administration and Chief Financial Officer (EVP/CFO) is an influential member of the Senior Leadership Team and is responsible for providing operational and strategic direction to the organization, as well as for overseeing the daily operations of Corporate Services, Finance, Decision Support, Business Development, Human Resources, Health Information Services, Redevelopment & Facilities and Customer Support Services. The EVP/CFO will provide overall leadership for the broad continuum of corporate services and, correspondingly, lead various organizational initiatives that include financial sustainability and growth, Human Resources planning, process automation/standardization and JBH’s continued redevelopment and expansion plans. Inherent in the role will be the ability of the EVP/CFO to lead and facilitate the optimization of funding across the hospital, consistent with best practice approaches and local/regional plans, with a continual focus on superior patient outcomes and a quality patient experience. The EVP/CFO will also lead execution of JBH’s financial strategy that reflects JBH’s strategic priorities; continue to enhance financial stewardship, confidence and capacity within JBH; and further develop and build relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders. Key leadership initiatives for the new EVP/CFO will be to: Provide strategic and operational leadership regarding financial opportunities and challenges, projected growth and government funding changes, business planning and risk management initiatives. In collaboration with members of the Senior Leadership Team, support the advancement of several corporate strategic initiatives such as the Finance and People Strategic plans and continued redevelopment and expansion plans. Effectively partner with Clinical Services to ensure continued alignment and co-leadership towards key organizational initiatives that enable clinical excellence and a positive patient experience. Enhance other health system ties and build collegial partnerships amongst external stakeholders in the region, including the other hospitals, LHINs, other community agencies, as well as the municipal and private sector partners. Experience JBH requires an accomplished senior-level financial executive, capable of excelling in a complex multi-stakeholder environment. This position will require an individual that can continue to advance a strong corporate identity through collaboration, partnership and process redesign. The incumbent must be an outstanding communicator and possess excellent financial analytical abilities. The successful candidate will have at least seven to ten years progressive experience, ideally in health care and/or a similarly complex public sector environment. In addition to possessing a graduate degree and accounting designation (or equivalent combination of), the candidate will be a change agent, inspiring leader and engaged team player with experience working across a diverse/complex business environment, with a track record of exemplary business acumen, ethical leadership, business integrity and financial innovation.
