Southlake offers 500 patient beds and accommodates more than 113,000 visits to the Emergency Department, nearly 25,000 in-patient admissions, and more then 500,000 out-patient visits each year. THE ROLE The Regional Cardiac Care Program Southlake Regional Health Centre’s Regional Cardiac Care Program has a defined vision; envisioning today what the heart needs tomorrow. With a strong mission statement; we are a premier Cardiac Centre of Excellence at the leading edge of clinical care, research, education and innovation. As an extensive program, offering cardiac surgery, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, advanced heart failure management and specialists in echocardiography, we provide Ultimate Patient Experiences and outcomes that transform lives close to home and around the world. This role comes at an exciting time, created by the retirement of a long standing highly regarded director at the tail end of the programs five year strategic plan. The incumbent will play an active role in the continued strategic positioning of the Regional Cardiac Program in the rapidly evolving healthcare landscape of Ontario and will continue to seek out and cultivate new partnership opportunities to drive forward best in class cardiac care across the region and provincial continuum of care. Southlake is also embarking on a new master plan as well as a bed reallocation project which would see Cardiac Care more centralized and create new capacity and space. Southlake is ideally looking for a seasoned and experienced individual already at the Director level to fill the vacancy of Director, Regional Cardiac Programs . Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Clinical, the Program Director is responsible for the organization and leadership of all aspects of the Regional Cardiac Care Program at Southlake Regional Health Centre. This includes patient care delivery, operational planning, human resource development, financial management, quality management, education and research. The Regional Cardiac Care Program is the primary tertiary service provider to all hospitals (10) in Simcoe County, York Region Muskoka and Dufferin. The Program Director is responsible for managing a budget in excess of $75million and more than 300 staff. The incumbent will be an experienced change agent who will work closely and collaboratively with all levels of management, staff and external stakeholders including the Physician Lead of the Cardiac Program, Cardiac Managers, Cardiac Medical Directors, all relevant Chiefs of service and non-cardiac team members to support and advocate for the program’s Vision/ Mission, to ensure effective team work, implementation of the Cardiac Program's objectives, achievement of the targeted outcomes and the effective and efficient use of resources within the program. The Program Director is also responsible for enhancing interprofessional collaboration throughout the continuum of patient care by ensuring that systems are in place to enable optimal clinical decision-making and patient care.
