On August 1, 2017, Providence Healthcare, St. Joseph's Health Centre and St. Michael's Hospital integrated to form a new health network known as Unity Health Toronto. The health network provides services spanning primary care, secondary community care, tertiary and quaternary care services to post-acute through rehabilitation, palliative care and long-term care. Reporting to the Vice President, People and Transformation, the Senior Director, HR Consulting, will provide a high level of operational and strategic human resources leadership in support of the organization's People and Strategic Plan. The successful candidate will utilize their extensive technical and professional expertise, combined with superior relationship-building and strategic planning skills, to optimize the delivery of HR services and advance a people agenda in the areas of HR Consulting, Talent Acquisition, Workforce Planning and Labour Relations services. Working closely with other leaders across all sites, this role will promote and guide the implementation of leading and best practices within their portfolio. The Senior Director HR Consulting serves as a strategic partner to the organization's business leaders in support of their Human Resource needs. Primary responsibilities of the role include: In conjunction with the Vice President, People and Transformation, support the development of the organization's overall People Plan in alignment with Unity Health Toronto's Strategy, Mission, Vision and Values. Provide strategic oversight of assigned functional areas to promote a cohesive approach to human resources across the organization, and to ensure that the sites individually and jointly are well positioned to meet the current and future workforce needs. Provide ongoing leadership in the design, development and implementation of innovative people programs to support business objectives, including the reduction of agency and overtime use, the implementation of a robust HR metrics/analytics program, and the development of a talent acquisition and workforce planning strategy for Unity Health Toronto. Provide ongoing direction, expertise and guidance on all strategic and operational matters in portfolio. Direct and guide the implementation of key performance metrics to monitor service delivery in respective areas, including the promotion of continuous quality improvement. Support the VP, People and Transformation and other member of the Executive team on strategic initiatives, including providing expert advice on sensitive Human Resource issues. Promote a highly focused client service culture within the teams. Collaborate with executive and peer leaders in fostering engagement and wellness of our people. Ensure the continuous development of direct reports and leadership teams through education and coaching. Develop, manage and monitor the portfolio budget, variances and ensure alignment with organizational plan. Provide effective oversight and leadership to the negotiation and management of Unity Health's Collective Agreements. Ensure compliance with all related HR legislation, including analyzing new legislation to understand implications. Provide expert advice and recommend solutions on the full spectrum of labour/employee relations, talent acquisition and HR compliance issues. Represent Unity Health Toronto on various internal and external committees, including working with system partners to build strategic human resource capacity. Overview of Role Qualifications: At least 10 years of progressive Human Resources management experience, demonstrating advancing scope and responsibility. Experience within the healthcare and/or public sector is preferred. Significant leadership experience in a large organization preferably in roles with multisite complexity. Undergraduate Degree in HR, Business, Social Sciences or other relevant field of study required. Masters' Degree preferred. CHRP/CHRL designation preferred. Extensive working knowledge of Collective Agreements and experience in union environments. Understanding of strategic human resources and best-practice methodologies related to talent acquisition, workforce planning and employee engagement, and the proven ability to successfully implement these methodologies. Experience with creating and implementing HR strategies that support a diverse and inclusive workforce. Demonstrated ability to lead organizations through the engagement of others, assisting people in seeing the value of new approaches and different strategies, the value of change; anticipating and dealing effectively with resistance to change; and demonstrating personal commitment to the change through actions and communication.
