Clinical Nurse Educator, Surgical – BC Cancer Vancouver Act as a research and clinical resource for nurses, nursing students and the interdisciplinary team at the Vancouver Centre and Community Oncology Network to help support important education programs in cancer care. What you’ll do Utilize evidence and learning theory to develop, facilitate and evaluate educational programs. Provide education to support surgical operations and perioperative areas, including the surgical suite, procedure room, surgical daycare and recovery room. Collaborate with centre and community nursing leaders to ensure that the educational needs of nursing staff are met. Support the Clinical Nurse Leaders in their work to orient, mentor and support direct care nurses. Support interdisciplinary orientation and education at the regional centres. Collaborate with centre leadership and educators in Radiation Therapy and Pharmacy to develop, facilitate and deliver interdisciplinary education at the regional centres and to provide provincially-designed, centre wide orientation and educational supports and programs. What you bring Graduation from an approved School of Nursing. Current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP). Perioperative Certification or Perioperative post graduate course. Three (3) years of recent, related clinical experience in the designated clinical area, including one (1) year in an educational and/or leadership role, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills. You have the ability to: Apply learning theory and evidence to teaching practices. Establish educational priorities to meet identified program, organization and learner needs. Implement education based on changing practices (i.e. Legislation and technology). Foster effective teaching and learning relationships. Facilitate learning and create effective learning environments. Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders in preparing appropriate learner environments. Develop, utilize and evaluate clinical practice resources. Develop and deliver teaching/learning modalities and education materials that promote evidence informed/best practice. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Provide leadership and work direction in a coaching/mentoring role. Work independently in an organized and self-directed manner. Problem-solve and effectively deal with conflict situations. Conceptualize education from a provincial to regional focus. Utilize a wide variety of technology and software applications such as Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. Operate related equipment.
