Associate Chief of Nursing Practice

The Associate Chief of Nursing Practice provides strategic vision and leadership to create an interprofessional culture that is innovative, collaborative, accountable, safe, outcome-focused and evidence-informed across the Hospital for Sick Children.   This leader combines knowledge of patient care, continuous process improvement, safety and implementation science, professional standards, and regulation to promote excellence in the delivery of patient / family centered care.  Relies on leadership experience, judgement, and evidence to plan and execute goals.

Here’s What You’ll Get To Do

• Lead and execute in the development , implementation and sustainability of progressive,, innovative and evidence- informed  practices, processes, and procedures that promote excellence in nursing practice
• Work collaboratively with interprofessional colleagues to advance an academic agenda for patient care, education and research
• Work with clinical stakeholders to implement, monitor, and adjust nursing care processes that culminate in quality outcomes that align with principles of high reliability and the organization’s safety culture
• Promote and support a healthy workplace environment to encourage and foster staff development, resilience and engagement across the organization
• Partner with operational leaders to operationalize a matrix reporting structure to lead, recruit and mentor Advanced Practice Nurses
•  Integrate knowledge of current professional standards, regulations, and future trends regarding paediatric and professional nursing practice to ensure internal organizational practices meet or exceed professional standards
• Establish internal and external partnerships with the goal of promoting and advancing paediatric health locally, provincially and nationally

Here’s What You’ll Need

• Registered Nurse with a Master or Doctorate degree in Nursing or equivalent
• Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing
• Eligible for cross-appointment with associated universities (e.g., University of Toronto, Ryerson University)
• Minimum of 7-10 years clinical experience
• 5 years’ experience in leadership and management (preferably at the director level) within a healthcare environment, including managing people and organization-wide initiatives, with demonstrated abilities in: critical thinking, process improvement, change management, human resource management, and communication
• Understands the importance of and demonstrates commitment to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Dynamic, creative, collaborative, inclusive, forward thinking, invitational leadership style
• Knowledge of current trends in pediatric clinical practice and patient safety that promote a strong professional practice environment
• Strong attention to detail and efficient time-management skills with the ability to establish clear priorities responsibilities and lead others  establish priorities to address key  strategic and emerging needs
• Highly self-directed, work independently while collaborating well within a variety of teams

Employment Type

Full-time, Permanent.  35 hours per week.
