The Director, Inclusion, Diversity & Equity and Organizational Development is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation and measurement of: i) internal and external activities to support the organization’s commitment to address racism and discrimination and an equitable environment for all; and ii) an approach to talent acquisition, talent management, engagement, and organizational development that promotes diversity, inclusiveness and equity both within the workplace and the communities that we serve. The Director will have a keen understanding of how inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility contribute to the development of a healthy, engaged, accessible and equitable workplace, and an accessible and acceptable health care system that brings about positive health outcomes in the population. Guided by principles of accountability, transparency, and trust, the Director will support Lakeridge Health to move towards a more inclusive, equitable, and just organization for team members, and a recognized leader and ambassador of change in the Durham Region.

Qualifications:                 

  • Graduate degree in a relevant area of study, preferably with a focus on dispute resolution, human rights, diversity, equity and inclusion or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Minimum ten (10) years of leadership experience (or several years’ progressive experience) in a health services or academic environment preferred;
  • Expert level knowledge of anti-oppression, equity, diversity and inclusion frameworks including the ability to proactively identify challenges and opportunities related to these areas of expertise to support future planning and strategy;
  • Successful record of advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion within a complex organization;
  • Demonstrated experience and competence in developing targeted training to diverse groups;
  • Understanding of the social determinants of health and how to utilize this knowledge to build a more inclusive, equitable, and preventative health care experience for the patients and communities we serve;
  • Knowledge of healthcare needs and practices within diverse populations;
  • A thorough understanding of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Human Rights Code and relevant legislation/case law;
  • Familiarity with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and the organizational obligations associated with this legislation;
  • Excellent communications skills, interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence;
  • Experience with complex report writing at a senior level;
  • Ability to demonstrate achievement of goals and or vision through measurable and observable outcomes;
  • Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy; and,
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety, and participates in regular in-service in this area.
