Peterborough Family Health Team (PFHT) is one of the first Family Health Teams in Ontario and is a trusted source for family medicine with a team-based approach to patient care. We support the more than 95 family doctors working within the five Family Health Organizations (FHOs) and the Partners in Pregnancy Clinic (PIPC) with 115 interprofessional healthcare providers and administrative staff serving more than 116,000 patients. Collectively, the team includes nurse practitioners, pharmacists, registered nurses, registered dietitians, medical secretaries and support staff.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Clinical Services oversees the agency’s clinical services and general operations and ensures the organization is meeting its legislative, regulatory and funding obligations. The Director will supervise the management team and the professional practice leads. The Director will work in close collaboration with the five FHOs and PIPC to ensure that PFHT operations support primary health care service objectives in the community. The Director provides leadership, direction and mentorship through efficient utilization of human and material resources in the design, delivery, implementation and evaluation of PFHT operations and will work with all members of the organization to ensure services and programs are consistent with PFHT’s mission, vision, values and strategic direction.

The Director will represent the organization in community partnerships including participation in aspects of the new Peterborough Ontario Health Team’s development.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Works collaboratively with the FHO physician leads and other clinicians to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness;
  • Monitors and updates the CEO on all aspects of daily operations as needed and in a timely fashion;
  • In collaboration with the CEO effectively manages human resource issues;
  • Ensures adherence to established program budgets;
  • Liaises and collaborates with internal and external professionals and stakeholders to ensure services are aligned and integrated across and within the populations served;
  • Liaises between the PFHT and Family Health Organizations (FHO);
  • Works collaboratively with the team to prepare and implement quality improvement plans;
  • Maintains current knowledge of Primary Health Care priorities as they intersect with Ontario Government direction (such as Ontario Health Teams) and ensures that all programs and services are aligned with these priorities;
  • Supports the accomplishment of the PFHT strategic and operational plans that achieve high impact and significant improvements in organizational performance and system integration;
  • Participates in committees as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • A minimum of 6 years experience in health or social services at the senior management level.
  • Professional designation in a healthcare discipline and a member in good standing with a regulatory college.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in primary care, hospital healthcare or other related service area.
  • In depth understanding of publicly funded agencies.
  • Experience working with government and/or other funders.

  • Ability to engage and relate to others;
  • Computer literacy in a Windows environment utilizing Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and commitment to continuous learning;
  • Committed to personal ongoing professional development;
  • Ability to work from multiple locations.

The selected candidate must complete a vulnerable sector police check.

This is a full time permanent position with a salary range of $96,500 to $122,000 per year based on candidate experience. We offer a robust employee benefit package, including, HOOPP Pension Plan and Health and Dental Benefits.
