DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Patient Care Manager (PCM), Paediatrics/NICU LHO reports to the Director of Women and Children's Healthcare Program. This position is responsible for the management of the clinical units Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. While working collaboratively with all members of the health care team, the PCM will use their effective planning, budgeting and problem solving skills to ensure the development of unit processes, the effective management of staff, the achievement of business goals including increased operational efficiencies and optimization of the interdisciplinary team functioning. As well, will facilitate and support the implementation of evidence based practice to achieve excellence in high quality delivery of patient care. The successful PCM is required to have personal drive and the need to achieve results. These results are achieved by working diligently and engaging others to accomplish the desired outcomes. In addition, the PCM sets goals that maximizes the use of resources and has a strong ability to inspire others to work toward a common goal through their ability to engage and empower others.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Significant related nursing management experience in NICU and/or Paediatric hospital services;
  • Master's degree or current enrollment in a Master's program, preferred;
  • Recent leadership or management experience in NICU/Paediatric care;
  • Significant related nursing clinical experience in NICU/Paediatrics;
  • Proven knowledge of and ability to work with collective agreements and labour relations issues;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and related best practice guidelines;
  • Proven track record of achieving results that improve the organization and inspire confidence and commitment;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead effectively and create a high performance culture that facilitates growth and development;
  • Proven ability to inspire others to work toward common goals by increasingly engaging and empowering them;
  • Proven management skills including financial, human resources, quality improvement, change management, evaluation and planning and utilization management skills;
  • Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills including the ability to fully utilize communication tools;
  • Well-developed negotiation and conflict management/resolution skills;
  • Proven ability to problem-solve and critically analyze issues;
  • Demonstrated exceptional leadership and team building skills;
  • Commitment to professional and best practice, with evidence of capacity building successes;

  • Demonstrated understanding of and, commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient, and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area.
