Title: Clinical Services Manager, Respirology & General Medicine

Status: Permanent Full-Time

Hours: Days (Subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

Department/Campus: Program Admin - General Medicine/Brampton Civic Hospital (Travel will be required to all sites)

Reports to: Director of Medicine, Rehab & CCC, Transitional Care and Reactivation Care


Clinical Services Manager will have overall accountability/responsibility for the daily operations of the Respirology and the General Medicine inpatient units at Brampton Civic Hospital. This includes responsibility for quality and the management of the human, fiscal, and material resources required to meet the patient care needs of the departments. 

 With a focus on patient and family experience, the Clinical Services Manager will have overall accountability for ensuring the delivery of best practice care, within a safe and compassionate environment, while maintaining an engaged workforce. The Respirology and General Medicine inpatient units provide a wide variety of services to meet patient needs including acute care, medically complex services, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech language pathology.


  • In consultation/collaboration with the Director, Chief of Medicine, physician partners and team members, will develop and implement the clinical service, functional and strategic plan for the departments
  • In consultation/collaboration with the Director and Chief of Medicine and team members, defines the organizational supports and structures required for the departments
  • Works collaboratively with the Clinical Educator, Resource Nurse, staff and partners in improving practice, process, adding value, raising standards, improving effectiveness and delivering high team performance
  • Establishes and maintains a high-functioning inter-professional practice climate which embraces quality and continuous learning / improvement, and ensures that patient care is provided with compassion and in accordance with professional practice and corporate standards
  • Hires, orients and manages staff performance as determined by human resource policies, union contracts, legislation and standards of practice
  • Develops and implements the operational and program strategic plans and/or initiatives in collaboration with the program leadership team
  • Develops, monitors, controls and evaluates the budget in collaboration with administrative directors, physicians, health care professionals and staff in a team-oriented culture
  • Develops processes for selecting, evaluating and maintaining material/equipment needed for enhancing patient care
  • Develops and maintains effective interdepartmental relationships and participates in activities which contribute to the effective function of the service, the program, and the organization
  • Identifies areas for improvements, secures resources and implements efficient processes/structure required for safe and efficient operations
  • Evaluates data and provides feedback to the team on findings to drive timely delivery of exceptional services
  • Enhances community linkages and partnerships
  • Participates in regular Management Information Network (MIN) activities and all corporate Leader evaluation and development programs


  • Health Discipline Professional designation
  • Minimum of five (5) years recent management/leadership experience within a clinical environment, accompanied by participation in leadership or team development courses
  • Health Related Undergraduate Bachelor's Degree required
  • Master's Degree completed or working towards (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Medicine and Respirology portfolio within an acute care environment considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective interpersonal relationships within and outside the organization
  • Ability to establish and maintain an engaged workforce, with a service-oriented focus
  • Demonstrated effective leadership, planning and project management skills
  • Excellent problem solving and change management skills
  • Excellent oral, interpersonal and written communication skills are required
  • Proven ability to establish positive relationships
  • Highly motivated and self-directed team player
  • Established reputation as a consultative, collaborative and coaching leader with a strong business acumen.
  • Demonstrated understanding of patient flow processes which are safe, efficient and maximize financial effectiveness
  • Evidence of collaboration across multiple disciplines, divisions, programs, services
  • Able to articulate a vision for the assigned areas
  • Ability to travel between all hospital sites
