Director, Infectious Diseases Control

Reporting to the Associate Medical Officers of Health (AMOHs), the Director is responsible for providing Divisional leadership including ensuring the implementation of Infectious Diseases Control (IDC) Division programs in accordance with the requirements of the Ontario Public Health Standards (or as current), Health Protection and Promotion Act, Immunization of School Pupils Act and other relevant legislation and Regulations; and supporting the AMOHs in leading the Divisional response to communicable disease events and/or emergencies.
This role will appeal to candidates with a University Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Environmental Health Science, Health Sciences or another relevant field, combined with at minimum seven years demonstrated experience in public health or public health relevant programming including minimum of two (2) years’ experience related to infectious and communicable diseases, and a minimum of three (3) years’ of direct senior managerial experience that includes programs, financial budget administration and human resources management.
The ideal candidate will be an inspirational leader with high EI and experience building and guiding a large team. They have strong leadership competencies with a demonstrated ability in strategic and operational planning, change management design, management of large program budgets, process and implementation strategies to optimize both quality and cost-effectiveness of services, as well as developing talent and building a collaborative and resilient culture within the Division, and Branch at large. Comfortable in a complex environment, they bring strong stakeholder management experience and the ability to contribute to senior leadership discussions across the organization.
