Unit Summary:

Perioperative Services and Endoscopy at the Hamilton Health Sciences, includes the Juravinski, General, McMaster and West Lincoln sites of the Hamilton Health Sciences, providing pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative care for both adults and children. Perioperative Services includes the Same Day Surgery Units, Operating and Procedure Rooms, Post-anesthetic Care Units, Endoscopy and GI Investigations Unit, Interventional Radiology and Medical Device Reprocessing Departments, at all sites, the Medical Day Care at the General and the Centralized Preop Clinic and Booking Office.   In addition, the Acute Pain Service across the Juravinski, General and McMaster sites, falls under the Perioperative Services Program.

Position Summary:

The Perioperative Services Director is jointly accountable with the Chief of Surgery, Chief of Pediatric Surgery, Chief of Anesthesia, Head of Service for Interventional Radiology and Head of Service for GI, for strategic planning, quality patient care and service, and ensuring an education and research environment for the service. The Program Director is accountable for human resource and fiscal management in partnership with the Perioperative Services leadership team. The Program Director is accountable for communication within the service with other programs and services internally and with external partners. These accountabilities are set within the values and expectations for Hamilton Health Sciences.

Schedule Work Hours:

Monday to Friday; days


  1. Masters Degree, Health Science Preferred
  2. Minimum five years recent management experience in a relevant clinical setting.
  3. Demonstrated effective analytical, strategic and decision making abilities coupled with highly developed communication and leadership skills
  4. Demonstrated skill and commitment to working cooperatively and collaboratively within a team and with internal and external partners
  5. Demonstrated effective presentation, writing and communication skills
  6. Evidence of indepth knowledge of financial and performance metrics
  7. Demonstrated ability to lead an environment that support the service, teaching, and research in a changing environment
  8. Evidence of commitment to continuous education through pursuit of post graduate studies or comparable educational endeavours. 


$69.6200 – $89.2500 hourly
