Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre is a world-class acute care facility with 375 beds serving the people of Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario. The Thunder Bay Regional Health Research Institute facilitates clinical research specific to the regional health needs of a remote and rural environment. The TBRHSC facility has gained a worldwide reputation for its award-winning, innovative design, and thanks to support from the Health Sciences Foundation, TBRHSC has leading-edge technology and equipment to enhance patient care. TBRHSC is one of the largest employers in Thunder Bay with nearly 2,800 staff, 500 volunteers and 100 Patient Family Advisors.
As a teaching hospital, TBRHSC is proudly affiliated with Lakehead University, Confederation College and the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM), as well as other medical schools. The TBRHRI has tremendous opportunity to secure funding, to partner with other institutions, to engage clinicians, and to cooperate with Indigenous community leaders to conduct impactful research and strategic health innovations that improve the health of the people of Northwestern Ontario and beyond.
The President and Chief Executive Officer has a dual reporting relationship and is accountable to the Board of Directors of the Hospital and the Board of the Research Institute for their strategic and operational leadership.
Trusted with the overall stewardship of this world class organization, the CEO will ensure regional interests are upheld while delivering excellence in quality, safe patient care and research. The CEO will partner with the Ministry of Health, Ontario Health, NW Regional Partners and other systems leaders to advocate and achieve health care goals, through collaboration on provincial planning and strategy, and identifying opportunities for systems transformation and the creation of a sustainable healthcare model for the future.
As a qualified candidate for this opportunity you have extensive executive leadership experience within a complex health care environment, ideally in an academic health science centre; you possess a MHSc, MHA, MD, MBA degree or equivalent, with certification by the Canadian College of Health Leaders considered an asset. You are an accomplished executive in healthcare, having demonstrated a commitment to quality, safe patient care, partnerships, research and innovation, accountability and fiscal stewardship. A compelling communicator, you have earned your leadership credentials by developing lasting professional relationships, demonstrating sound business judgment and operational excellence by managing people with the highest of integrity and by inspiring exceptional performance.
