The AVP (Student Experience) and Dean of Students support all students — undergraduate and graduate — in the pursuit of academic and personal success. The AVP (Student Experience) and Dean of Students collaborates with faculties, offices, and services across all campuses to deliver effective programming and provides leadership on university policies and initiatives. Reporting to the Associate Vice-President (Student Experience), the Assistant Dean, Community Wellness and Sexual Violence Supports is responsible for ensuring that members of the University of Alberta community, including students, have access to efficient and high-quality wellness programs and services. The Assistant Dean will work as part of the Dean of Students’ (DoS) Senior Leadership Team to deliver and evaluate an integrated system of wellness supports that strengthen individual and community mental health and well-being, and deliver prevention and support services related to sexual and gender-based violence. Develops, implements, maintains, and evaluates strategic plans and initiatives for the Community Wellness and Sexual Violence Supports portfolio and ensures their alignment with the strategic vision for the Office of the Dean of Students (DoS) and Office of the Provost and VP (Academic).
As a key member of the DoS Senior Leadership Team, works collaboratively to develop wellness programs and initiatives that enhance the university experience and meet the diverse needs of the community, which includes students, faculty, and staff.

Human Resource Management

Service Management
Maintains overall accountability for all Community Wellness Support and survivor support services, outreach, and the SAC education program, including individual and/or group counselling, educational workshop delivery, and outreach programming. Monitor staffing and clinical service needs, particularly as they relate to the Sexual Violence Psychological Support Team.
Ensures effective and consistent service delivery related to sexual assault survivor therapeutic and crisis intervention support, and educational initiatives in support of community wellness and sexual violence survivor support across all three U of A campuses.
Working in partnership with the Lead, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Response, ensures that students and staff who are responding to complex disclosures of sexual violence and/or gender based violence have appropriate training and support.
Works closely with the Counselling and Clinical Services unit as it relates to crisis intervention and psychotherapy using a multi-modal approach to service delivery.
Plans, coordinates, and carries out ongoing training and services that support clinical growth and development and have relevance to the population primarily served by the SAC psychologists, namely post-secondary students.
Serves as the SAC Privacy Officer on behalf of the AVP, ensuring that program policies, practices, and procedures are consistent with relevant legislation (e.g. FOIP, HIA, etc.).
Maintains close relationships with the Helping Individuals at Risk (HIAR) services and
the Lead, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Response and operates as the contact point for disseminating critical and time-sensitive information to the support and response team regarding students of concern in accordance with applicable legislation.
Manages requests from the campus community for outreach programming involving educational, collaborative, and consultative services.
Oversees and supports problem solving regarding daily service issues, including facility maintenance and resourcing; basic information technology issues; staff questions regarding service provision, applying various policy and procedures, addressing stakeholder and staff concerns, and managing complex client situations.
Oversight of Crisis Intervention Support, Systems Navigation, and Education
Oversees the provision of specialized crisis intervention support; ongoing emotional stabilization and therapeutic bridging; and sexual assault and gender-based violence information and resources to individuals who have been affected by sexual and gender-based violence, including extensive follow-up sessions, through a variety of mediums (in-person, virtual, phone, and email), specifically to clients navigating complex situations.
Where appropriate, assesses clients for potential risk of harm to self and/or others, makes appropriate referrals to relevant on- and off-campus resources, and reports information appropriately to relevant bodies (e.g., AVP, Dean of Students, Helping Individuals At Risk, Student Care Team, UAPS, Edmonton Police Services, etc.).
Consults with members of the SAC Psychological Support Team on clients that are especially complex and sensitive and that may need to be escalated or that appear to be an emerging risk (moving towards imminent or urgent) and need to be referred to specialty services or agencies.

Liaises with local, provincial, and federal officials to address service needs and advocate for community best practices and resources, in partnership with the Lead, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Response.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of a master’s degree or extensive related experience in a related field (e.g., public health, social work, psychology, business administration).
Three to five years providing specialized sexual and gender based violence specific crisis intervention or clinical support, implementing community health and wellness initiatives, and/or delivering sexual violence educational programming

Reporting to the Vice President Clinical and Chief Nursing Executive, the Director provides leadership to advance excellence in quality, person centered care and practice through the integration of a variety of programs and services. The Director is responsible to create the operational framework for interprofessional care and treatment of patients across district and regional care settings.
The Director ensures programs, services and processes:
Integrate evidence-informed practice(s) and
Support quality care and practice at the individual, team and system level.
Working in partnership with senior leaders, managers and staff, and external stakeholders, the Director takes a leadership role in creating a just culture of care that is evidence informed, responsive to internal and external issues/trends and is sustainable and consistent with the organization’s strategic priorities. The Director oversees a team that is well versed in professional and regulatory matters, oversees and monitors physical, human, and financial resources, anticipating future changes that will affect service delivery.
The position supports and ensures excellence in care delivery, improvement in health outcomes, and achievement of standards of care established by NBRHC and Ministry of Health.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
Together with senior leaders, other directors, managers and physicians providing leadership to the medicine programs through active collaboration and inter-professional partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ensuring program services are delivered with clinical competence and the application and integration of professional standards and evidence based practices.
Collaborating with managers to identify practice gaps, training and coaching needs for the program teams.
Providing leadership to create and maintain practice environments that support a culture of safety and continuous quality improvement in partnership with staff, patients, and families.
Allocating, overseeing, and monitoring all physical, human and financial resources, and anticipating future changes that will affect service delivery.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Master’s Degree with progressive leadership and experience in Medical and Surgical Clinical Services preferred; Undergraduate Degree and suitable combination of progressive years of experience will be considered
Current registration with a regulatory
Demonstrated leadership experience and skills/abilities to build effective working relationships with a dynamic professional team with varied disciplines.
Demonstrated experience as a clinical operations leader; committed to the continuous improvement of high quality standards the program requires.
Experience at a management level within an environment of significant change and restructuring.
Excellent demonstrated communication and reporting skills (oral and written).
Must be able to function independently and as an active member of the multi-disciplinary team.
Computer application experience required (Meditech, Microsoft Office and Outlook).
Bilingualism (English/French) considered an asset.

Required to participate in NBRHC administrative on-call schedule.

Supporting such projects like CST, the Clinical Informatics Specialist positions work closely within the assigned program/service area to ensure all aspects of the workflow and the system design requirements are understood, utilized as an input for design and that transformative opportunities are realized by program/service areas; ultimately, Program adoption and engagement is fostered and heightened via realization of strategic design.

What you’ll do
Perform role and specialty specific clinical workflow assessments and translates requirements to digital health/information technology leads. Liaise with multiple clinical groups, project teams, and members of the organization and peer health authorities to assess technology gaps and clinical needs for providers and clinical users of the electronic health record system. Provide subject matter expertise in system design and evaluation of clinical content, troubleshooting and end–user support.
Liaise with the Digital Health department, organizational programs/departments and partner affiliates as the role and informatics specialty specific expert and resource on system wide practice and workflow change initiatives, practice innovation and redesign, documentation/nomenclature standards and the electronic health record.
Champion a collaborative team-based framework that incorporates resources from other departments, programs, and vendor partners as it relates to clinical systems implementations. Lead and participates in steering committees and taskforces for PHSA clinical informatics and information technology initiatives.
Lead in the development of organizational and/or departmental clinical change management policies and procedures as they relate to the electronic health record and clinical practice process redesign as it pertains to the automation of professional practice. Lead the identification and assists in the development of new and changing role and specialty specific functions and processes in the department/organization as they relate to the use of clinical information systems.
Lead the system design life cycle in the areas of design, content development, validation, implementation, stabilization and evaluation of electronic health information systems and their associated data dictionaries, databases, tables, reports and related standards, protocols and procedures to support clinical uptake of electronic health and information records. Participate in custom report development and data analysis for decision-making.
Provide leadership and/or coaching to nurses and other clinical staff based on knowledge and informatics experience on incorporating clinical informatics advances and electronic health records developments into practice.
Engage in the planning, coordination, scheduling, implementation and evaluation of upcoming releases including impact analysis, development of release notes and liaising with other subject matter experts to support development and delivery of education for end users to enhance adoption, including use of clinical decision support tools within the clinical workflows to support timely decision making.
Plan and lead adoption training sessions such as, workflow review sessions and one-on-one support sessions related to appropriate, safe and efficient use of clinical information systems/applications including applicable policies and related legislation regarding access to electronic health records.
Identify innovative approaches and standards for information capture, storage and retrieval that ensure the management of and secure access to personal electronic health information in collaboration with security management and application analysts. Participate in data remediation/data integrity activities and audit processes to ensure quality data collection and system efficiency.
Document and communicate clinical informatics standards to information technology leadership, staff, providers, project directors, project managers and the appropriate user community representatives such as staff from other portfolios within PHSA, colleagues from peer health authorities and vendors. Maintain familiarity with health care industry developments in clinical informatics, participates in advising on implementation of related standards, tools, and processes within PHSA.
What you bring
Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM), formally known as British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
Three (3) years’ experience in a Clinical Informatics environment, including experience facilitating or participating in Clinical and Systems Transformation (CST) implementation, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
May require the use of a vehicle for which mileage is reimbursed in accordance with the current Collective Agreement.
May be required to travel, work different shift hours and weekends/STATs in accordance with the current Collective Agreement.

What you’ll do
Perform role and specialty specific clinical workflow assessments and translates requirements to digital health/information technology leads. Liaise with multiple clinical groups, project teams, and members of the organization and peer health authorities to assess technology gaps and clinical needs for providers and clinical users of the electronic health record system. Provide subject matter expertise in system design and evaluation of clinical content, troubleshooting and end–user support.
Liaise with the Digital Health department, organizational programs/departments and partner affiliates as the role and informatics specialty specific expert and resource on system wide practice and workflow change initiatives, practice innovation and redesign, documentation/nomenclature standards and the electronic health record.
Champion a collaborative team-based framework that incorporates resources from other departments, programs, and vendor partners as it relates to clinical systems implementations. Lead and participates in steering committees and taskforces for PHSA clinical informatics and information technology initiatives.
Lead in the development of organizational and/or departmental clinical change management policies and procedures as they relate to the electronic health record and clinical practice process redesign as it pertains to the automation of professional practice. Lead the identification and assists in the development of new and changing role and specialty specific functions and processes in the department/organization as they relate to the use of clinical information systems.
Lead the system design life cycle in the areas of design, content development, validation, implementation, stabilization and evaluation of electronic health information systems and their associated data dictionaries, databases, tables, reports and related standards, protocols and procedures to support clinical uptake of electronic health and information records. Participate in custom report development and data analysis for decision-making.
Provide leadership and/or coaching to nurses and other clinical staff based on knowledge and informatics experience on incorporating clinical informatics advances and electronic health records developments into practice.
Engage in the planning, coordination, scheduling, implementation and evaluation of upcoming releases including impact analysis, development of release notes and liaising with other subject matter experts to support development and delivery of education for end users to enhance adoption, including use of clinical decision support tools within the clinical workflows to support timely decision making.
Plan and lead adoption training sessions such as, workflow review sessions and one-on-one support sessions related to appropriate, safe and efficient use of clinical information systems/applications including applicable policies and related legislation regarding access to electronic health records.
Identify innovative approaches and standards for information capture, storage and retrieval that ensure the management of and secure access to personal electronic health information in collaboration with security management and application analysts. Participate in data remediation/data integrity activities and audit processes to ensure quality data collection and system efficiency.
Document and communicate clinical informatics standards to information technology leadership, staff, providers, project directors, project managers and the appropriate user community representatives such as staff from other portfolios within PHSA, colleagues from peer health authorities and vendors. Maintain familiarity with health care industry developments in clinical informatics, participates in advising on implementation of related standards, tools, and processes within PHSA.
What you bring
Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM), formally known as British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
Three (3) years’ experience in a Clinical Informatics environment, including experience facilitating or participating in Clinical and Systems Transformation (CST) implementation, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
May require the use of a vehicle for which mileage is reimbursed in accordance with the current Collective Agreement.

What you’ll do
Maintain patient records by performing activities such as collecting and documenting information including health care information regarding patients and their families, nursing observations, telephone communications, interventions, teaching and care evaluations to ensure that patient records are current and complete.

Participate as a member of the health care team through contributing information in rounds, committees, and staff meetings.
Provide input to the Program Director, or delegate, regarding policies, procedures and operational requirements by observing service needs and providing spoken or written suggestions which address patient and family needs and promote effective use of resources.
Maintain a safe environment for patients, families and staff by following established emergency procedures and safety practices and procedures.
Promote the implementation and evaluation of nursing research and quality monitoring activities as directed by participating in nursing committees, and by keeping current through attendance at education and in-service opportunities.

The Nurse, Clinical Informatics Specialist (CIS) reports to the Manager and provides consultation, facilitation and instruction on the design, optimization and integration of clinical workflow applications related to variety of clinical information systems. The role is an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team and has a shared responsibility and accountability to automate and enhance clinical practices, patient/client information and clinical documentation access via the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
The CIS is the liaison between Professional Practice, Digital Health/Information Management, clinical operations leaders, users (staff and clinicians) and other groups and utilizes their nursing clinical expertise and information systems/computer science experience to enhance the effectiveness, validity and sustainability of clinical initiatives that support the transition to a fully integrated EHR.
What you’ll do
Perform role and specialty specific clinical workflow assessments and translates requirements to digital health/information technology leads. Liaise with multiple clinical groups, project teams, and members of the organization and peer health authorities to assess technology gaps and clinical needs for providers and clinical users of the electronic health record system. Provide subject matter expertise in system design and evaluation of clinical content, troubleshooting and end–user support.
Liaise with the Digital Health department, organizational programs/departments and partner affiliates as the role and informatics specialty specific expert and resource on system wide practice and workflow change initiatives, practice innovation and redesign, documentation/nomenclature standards and the electronic health record.
Champion a collaborative team-based framework that incorporates resources from other departments, programs, and vendor partners as it relates to clinical systems implementations. Lead and participates in steering committees and taskforces for PHSA clinical informatics and information technology initiatives.
Lead in the development of organizational and/or departmental clinical change management policies and procedures as they relate to the electronic health record and clinical practice process redesign as it pertains to the automation of professional practice. Lead the identification and assists in the development of new and changing role and specialty specific functions and processes in the department/organization as they relate to the use of clinical information systems.
Lead the system design life cycle in the areas of design, content development, validation, implementation, stabilization and evaluation of electronic health information systems and their associated data dictionaries, databases, tables, reports and related standards, protocols and procedures to support clinical uptake of electronic health and information records. Participate in custom report development and data analysis for decision-making.
What you bring
Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM), formally known as British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
Three (3) years’ experience in a Clinical Informatics environment, including experience facilitating or participating in Clinical and Systems Transformation (CST) implementation, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

The Nurse, Clinical Informatics Specialist (CIS) reports to the Manager and provides consultation, facilitation and instruction on the design, optimization and integration of clinical workflow applications related to variety of clinical information systems. The role is an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team and has a shared responsibility and accountability to automate and enhance clinical practices, patient/client information and clinical documentation access via the Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Champion a collaborative team-based framework that incorporates resources from other departments, programs, and vendor partners as it relates to clinical systems implementations. Lead and participates in steering committees and taskforces for PHSA clinical informatics and information technology initiatives.
Lead in the development of organizational and/or departmental clinical change management policies and procedures as they relate to the electronic health record and clinical practice process redesign as it pertains to the automation of professional practice. Lead the identification and assists in the development of new and changing role and specialty specific functions and processes in the department/organization as they relate to the use of clinical information systems.
Lead the system design life cycle in the areas of design, content development, validation, implementation, stabilization and evaluation of electronic health information systems and their associated data dictionaries, databases, tables, reports and related standards, protocols and procedures to support clinical uptake of electronic health and information records. Participate in custom report development and data analysis for decision-making.
What you bring
Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM), formally known as British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).

Registered Nurse (RN), Ambulatory Care Chemo Unit

Utilizing evidence-based practice, the Registered Nurse is responsible for providing holistic nursing care to oncology patients during their cancer care experience including but not limited to: assessment, intervention, symptom management, treatment coordination and administration, teaching, counselling, support and follow up consistent with established policies and standards of care.
What you’ll do
Provide direct patient care to Oncology patients by performing duties such as patient assessment, reviewing patient and family history and developing and implementing a nursing care plan specific to the patient needs considering psychosocial, cultural, ethnic contexts. Deliver treatment as per prescribed protocols.
Collaborate with patients, family and multidisciplinary team members to develop treatment/care plan for the patient and through ongoing assessment, assists in the modification of the treatment/care plan as the patient progresses through the stages of care.
Administer medications, injections, blood products and IV fluids as required by the care plan. Monitor patient reactions to treatment and changes in physical or mental status and uses independent judgment as to when to consult a physician.
Maintain patient records by collecting and documenting patient information and health care history, nursing assessment, telephone communications, symptom and side effect management, patient and family education and care evaluations.
Admit, transfer or discharge patients according to BC Cancer policies and Centre directives.
Assist the patient in interpretation of their care plan. Refer patients to other health care professionals and programs in the agency and in the community health services as required.
Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff by adhering to emergency procedures and safety policies and standards.

Utilizing evidence-based practice, the Registered Nurse is responsible for providing holistic nursing care to oncology patients during their cancer care experience including but not limited to: assessment, intervention, symptom management, treatment coordination and administration, teaching, counselling, support and follow up consistent with established policies and standards of care.
What you’ll do
Provide direct patient care to Oncology patients by performing duties such as patient assessment, reviewing patient and family history and developing and implementing a nursing care plan specific to the patient needs considering psychosocial, cultural, ethnic contexts. Deliver treatment as per prescribed protocols.
Collaborate with patients, family and multidisciplinary team members to develop treatment/care plan for the patient and through ongoing assessment, assists in the modification of the treatment/care plan as the patient progresses through the stages of care.
Administer medications, injections, blood products and IV fluids as required by the care plan. Monitor patient reactions to treatment and changes in physical or mental status and uses independent judgment as to when to consult a physician.
Maintain patient records by collecting and documenting patient information and health care history, nursing assessment, telephone communications, symptom and side effect management, patient and family education and care evaluations.
Admit, transfer or discharge patients according to BC Cancer policies and Centre directives.
Assist the patient in interpretation of their care plan. Refer patients to other health care professionals and programs in the agency and in the community health services as required.
Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff by adhering to emergency procedures and safety policies and standards.
What you bring
Qualifications:
Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM), formally known as British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
Current CPR (Level C) certification.
One (1) year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

We provide assessment and treatment services to improve our clients’ mental health and reduce their risk of re-offending. Our Brockville site offers 2 primary programs within the Integrated Forensic Program – a Secure Treatment Unit (STU) and a Forensic Treatment Unit (FTU) The Secure Treatment Unit (STU): The St. Lawrence Valley Correctional and Treatment Centre-Secure Treatment Unit is a 100-bed hybrid correctional facility and mental health centre located on the same campus of the Brockville Mental Health Centre. This facility serves 25 other provincial correctional facilities from across Ontario, and provides comprehensive mental health and criminogenic needs assessments, treatment and discharge planning services for seriously mentally ill adult male offenders serving a provincial sentence (less than two years). The Secure Treatment Unit is the result of a contractual arrangement between the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group and the Ministry of the Solicitor General. Integrated Forensic Program staff are responsible for the assessment, treatment and day to day supervision of residents while the Ministry of the Solicitor General staff are responsible for security and the overall operation of the building. The Secure Treatment Unit is designed to be more like a hospital than prison like and the health care staffing model is similar to that seen in other academic mental health science centres around the province such that the facility is designated as a schedule 1 mental health centre by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. The Forensic Treatment Unit (FTU) The Forensic Treatment Unit provides secure inpatient and outpatient services to individuals under the jurisdiction of the Ontario Review Board (ORB). The treatment team works with each client to create an individualized treatment and reintegration plan within the limits set out by their ORB disposition.
