THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an exciting opportunity to play an active role in one of the largest community hospitals engaged in health system transformation. 

Reporting directly to the Director, Medicine, Critical Care and Respiratory Therapy Services the Clinical Services Manager is a key member of the Medicine program’s leadership team. Leading an interprofessional team of passionate and highly skilled clinicians and team members, the Clinical Services Manager is responsible for two service areas within the Medicine program at Brampton Civic site: a General Medicine inpatient unit, as well as a Neurology inpatient unit that will be front and center in the organizations heightened focus on stroke care and re-designing care pathways in partnership with community services.. With a focus on quality and experience, the Clinical Services Manager will have overall accountability for ensuring that patient care is provided safely and competently, and that human, fiscal and material resources are managed effectively.

We are looking for a critical thinking leader that has a strong business acumen, supports innovation and has an appetite for data and analytics to support strategic priorities as well as the expansion of service delivery.

We are seeking a dynamic clinical operations leader who has a demonstrated history of achieving results from the perspective of quality, operations and developing high-performing teams, in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of hospital and community-based care. The incumbent will be tasked with raising the bar with respect to practice standards and exploring potential new models of care and partnerships through an expansion of bundled care. Through this lens we look to develop and implement new processes or quality improvement initiatives, in collaboration with organizational and community partners. Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements the operational and program strategic plans and/or initiatives, in collaboration with the program leadership team.
  • Identifies areas for improvements, secures resources and implements efficient processes/ structure required for safe and efficient operations.
  • Evaluates data and provides feedback to the team on findings to drive timely delivery of exceptional services.
  • Works collaboratively with the Clinical Educator, Resource Nurse, staff and partners in improving practice, processes, adding value, raising standards, improving effectiveness and delivering high team performance.
  • Monitors and works to improve patient, family and staff engagement results in collaboration with relevant partners.
  • Fosters an engaged, high-performing workforce, seeking and implementing opportunities for improvement.
  • Promotes a collaborative and respectful professional practice environment and fosters an interdisciplinary approach to safe patient care and a positive care experience.
  • Hires, mentors and coaches staff performance as determined by human resource policies, union agreements, legislation and standards of practice.
  • Develops, monitors, controls and evaluates budgets and staffing plans, with support from business and financial partners.
  • Develops processes for selecting, evaluating and maintaining material / equipment needed for delivering and enhancing patient care.
  • Develops and maintains effective interdepartmental relationships and participates in activities which contribute to the effective function of the relevant areas.
  • Facilitates staff huddles and chairs team meetings; attends other internal/external meetings, as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Health Discipline Professional designation
  • Undergraduate Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years recent managerial experience
  • Familiarity with Medicine portfolio within an acute care environment considered an asset
  • Familiarity with Neurological or stroke services in an acute or community setting considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and foster strong and positive partnerships
  • Demonstrated leadership, planning and project management skills
  • Strong problem solving and change management skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated team player
  • Established reputation as a consultative, collaborative leader
  • Evidence of collaboration across multiple disciplines / divisions / programs / services
  • Ability to travel between campuses
  • A combination of experience and academic qualifications will be considered
