Saint Mary’s University invites applications and expressions of interest for the position of Vice President, Finance and Administration. It is an exciting time to join Saint Mary’s, as the University continues to enhance its position as Canada’s International University, and to build on its Strategic Plan.

Reporting to and acting as a key advisor to the President, the Vice President, Finance and Administration is the senior administrative officer of Saint Mary’s University responsible for, and having authority over, all non-academic affairs including the financial, operational, business and investment interests of the University. This includes Human Resources, Financial Services, Information Technology Services, Athletics & Recreation, and Facilities Management. Working as a critical member of a small, tight-knit Executive Team, the Vice President plays an integral role in the achievement of the vision and mission of the University, by leading and overseeing short-term and long-term financial and campus planning. They also liaise with government and key institutional, business, and private partners, and represent the University locally, regionally, and nationally through participation in university and community organizations.

The Vice President will also serve as a key executive resource to the University’s Board of Governors and, working with the President, will provide information, advice, and support to the Board as a whole and to key committees of the Board.

The ideal candidate will have strong financial acumen gained through working with substantial institutional budgets, as well as a demonstrated track record of broad leadership and operations management experience in the HR or IT functional area of a complex organization. Experience in working productively and collegially in a unionized environment will be essential.
