Inaugural Scientific Director, Centre for Complex Interventions

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is Canada’s largest academic health sciences centre and one of the world’s leading research centres in mental illness. Dedicated to improving the lives of patients today and tomorrow, CAMH is a leader in clinical care, research, education, and system building, nationally and globally. With a dedicated staff of more than 3,000 physicians, clinicians, researchers, educators and support staff, and more than 120 scientists, CAMH offers outstanding clinical care to more than 37,000 patients each year. The organization conducts groundbreaking research, provides expert training to health care professionals and scientists, develops innovative health promotion and prevention strategies, and advocates on public policy issues at all levels of government. Through its Foundation, CAMH is breaking ground in mental health philanthropy globally.

As part of the CAMH Discovery Fund’s philanthropic contribution, the vision for a new Research Centre can now become a reality with the establishment of the new Centre for Complex Interventions. By bringing together research and practice, the new Centre will support the design and evaluation of novel health services interventions to enhance the real-world outcomes and experiences of people with mental illness across the care continuum. The Research Centre will be home to world-class scientists, methodologists, and research staff dedicated to the development and evaluation of complex interventions using rigorous research methods to improve the early identification and detection of mental health problems and illnesses and optimize their treatment and outcomes.
