Vice President, Health Information Technology Services and Chief Information Officer

Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs & Chief Financial Officer, the Vice President, Health Information Technology Services and Chief Information Officer is responsible for the information and communication technology directions for the organization and to be a partner to key members of the HHS leadership team, including the CEO, Executives, clinical leaders and Physicians. The VP and CIO will lead the portfolio during a time of unprecedented technological change at HHS. They will co-lead the implementation of the hospital’s Digital Health Plan (DHP), a key initiative of the corporate strategic plan. They will spearhead the implementation of new technologies, most prominently the replacement of the hospital information system (HIS), that will improve operations and services and ultimately help achieve the vision of Best Care for All.
The VP and CIO has direct oversight of all information and communication functions in both proactive and reactive situations. This position also oversees strategies and tactics designed to build and maintain the HHS technology platform. The VP and CIO leads a team of information and communication professionals who execute a wide variety of internal and external communication strategies, including promotion of the organizations new strategic plan.
Duties also include managing the reporting Directors to oversee a $19 million operational budget, business continuity planning and business recovery, maintaining essential services, scheduling, quality assurance, billing, cost analysis, reporting, asset procurement planning and inventory reconciliation. Portfolios currently include HITS Infrastructure Services and Solutions, HITS Client Services, HITS Informatics, HITS medical informatics, Telecommunications, Biomedical Technologies and the HITS eHealth Office.
The successful candidate has progressive experience in senior management in healthcare information technology roles. With a Master’s Degree, the VP will bring a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in senior level Information Technology operational management, ideally within a complex, matrixed academic healthcare organization, although large community hospital experience would also be considered. The new VP will be a credible well-networked leader in the healthcare IT industry. They will have demonstrated outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical and decision-making skills, and an ability to develop strong effective relationships with stakeholders from across the organization. The VP will have an ability to manage large scale projects, complex budgets and effectively lead and motivate a large team.
